Guest guest
I am trying to find out out if there exists any possible cure for the genetic disease Krabbe's Disease. A friend of mine has a neighbor whose 6 month infant has just been diagnosed with this terrible disease. Thanks, Ole
Guest guest
Dear Ole, Krabbe's disease is a rare, inherited degenerative disorder of the nervous system in which a specific enzyme deficiency leads to the destruction of myelin. The disease considered incurable. If we need to find out possible management through ayurveda all the symptoms are analysed as per ayurveda terminology. And diagnosed as per ayurveda. In my mind i do feel that the disease can be consider based on the clinical picture as a "DHATU KSHYAJANYA VATA VIKARA" where the only vata is involved(Kevala vata vikara)(Vata prakopa is due to loss of sngdha dhatu(Myeline sheet containing lipoproteins) covering the nerves. The more loss of snigdhtwa(myeline degeneration) the more vata prakopa. So there is more rookhstwa developing and thus leading to vata prakopa. So the line of treatment can be Brimhana, balya, snigdha, rasayana, medhya and vatahara. Based on best of my knowledge, Iwould like to suggest medication as below. 1)Tab.Kumara kalyana ras 1 tab twice daily with mother's breast milk. 2)Swarna brahmi vati 1/2 tab(60 mg) twice/day 3)Ksheera bala tailam 101 avarti 5 drops with milk. 4)Shudha bala tailam 1 spoon to be rubbed over the vertex or a piece of cotton soaked in the oil and placed over the vertex(This is called "Shiro pichu").Twice daily. 5)Mahmasha tailam (With amisha(goat meat)). to be massaged all over the body daily.
