The impact of "germ theory" of modern science for a number of years

has left this kind of scars on mind of common man: whether to boil the urine or

not.

If one understands urine as equivalent to fruit juice, this kind of

doubts will not arise. Self urine may contain bacteria out of

infections, even then it can be drunk "as available", that is the

kindness of God. More about this in next post. Dr G.K. Thakkar, the person who

spent life time in propogating the SUT, once in a public meeting said that he is

prepared to drink anybody's urine, even if that person is suffering from any

dangerous disease. This kind of insight one can obtain after practicing SUT for

years.

Although urine is commonly believed to be 'dirty' this is not

actually the case. In cases of kidney or urinary tract infection

(UTI) the urine will contain bacteria, but otherwise urine is

virtually sterile and nearly odorless when it leaves the body. The

internet recommendation to boil the urine is for drinking a fresh

urine, when person has some infections. However, after that, same

bacteria that contaminate the urine will convert chemicals in the

urine into smelling chemicals that are responsible for the

distinctive odor of stale urine; in particular, ammonia is produced

from urea. The whole purpose of making urine stale is to produce this

ammonia. Boiling will drive ammonia out, defeating the purpose of

making it stale. Read further:

SUT gives us a measure of health and immunity. If our urine does not

stink for a longer time and is color+odourless+tasty and stays so for

longer time, more healthy we are.

Following guidelines are offered for use of stale urine. These have been

compiled by Mr Haresh Gholakia in a concise form in Shivambu Privar directory,

published in Mumbai, India.

In shivambu therapy (SUT), stale urine is used only for external

massage. This massage is different from oil massage used in

PanchKarma and other ayurvedic practices.

For healthy people, from head crown to toes, carried out by using

very light pressure and repeated strokes, either by self or by

someone else having more skill/experience. For patients, or those

having inadequate time for whole body massage, only local application

suffices to obtain quick results.

For massage, stale urine is most beneficial. Maximum 8 days old urine

should be used, but 4-5 days old urine is ideal.

To obtain stale urine take many bottles, and put numbers on their

labels. Always use them in chronological sequence. Fill one bottle

daily, with date on the label. Shivambu should be used from 5th day

onward, after making it warm. Warming in sunlight or by allowing the

bottle to float in hot water bucket. No need to boil. That will drive

out ammonia and medicinal quality will reduce.

At the time of massage, stale shivambu should be put in a wide

diameter plate or sauce pan, Dip both palms in stale urine and

massage.

Shivambu more than 4 days old, upto 7 days old, is benificial when

diseases of intense and chronic nature generated by Kapha and Vata

unbalance. Higher ammonia content in older urine allows better

penetration in the skin. Many people use still older urine, but

these are exceptions. Author has given very old cow urine for eczema

and psoriasis patients, but such use is always under supervision.

For massage, one can take even fresh shivambu or 1,2,3 days old also.

In the beginning, for aclimatization, in order to avoid nausea with

pungent smell, one can add Gulabjal (Rosewater), Orange or Musambi

juice or few drops of Sanalwood oil. After few days, however, this

addition should be avoided.

Time of Massage:

Healthy person can carry out massage 10-15 minutes, if time available

is short. But for patient, more time is needed. Arthritis,

constipation etc demand more time on concerned body part. Generally,

if time is not a problem, following recommendation is given:

The parts above neck: 15 minutes

Neck: 10 minutes

Thighs, feet: 10 minutes

Chest, shoulders, back, stomach: 10 minutes

Soles, palms, fingers: 15 minutes

Time can be suitably altered, but one should massage till shivambu is

absorbed in the skin.

The room where massage is carried out should not be windy during

summer and winter. In winter, massage under sunlight is more

beneficial. If that is not possible, one can sit in morning sun light

for few minutes after massag. Massage should not be carried out under

fan.

The direction of the massage progress should be from head to waist

area and feet to waist area. The general direction should be towards

heart.

After massage, one should sit in open air (no wind) or sunlight.

Read, talk or just relax, for half to one hour.

Take bath after this 1/2-1 hour relaxation with luke-warm water or

cold water. No soap. For cleaning, a mixture of Amalki and Aritha

powder can be used.

In winter and those suffering from Kapha and Vata disorders, it is

beneficial to use warm shivambu and hot water for bath.

Many benifits of the massage are described in Shivambu Kalpa, the

original chapter of Damar Tantra.

Benifits:

Increase in Blood circulation.

The blood purification due to liver detoxification to some extent.

Nutrition to all organs.

Muscles become more powerful.

The nerves become more energetic and increased vigor if felt.

The skin gets nutrition. Increased glow, smoothness and reduced

wrinkles. Once a foreign official who shaked hands with Mr Morarji

Desai remarked that he felt he was touching the hand of a lady.

The warts in the sole if present, become soft.

Childen health improves with this kind of massage.

The Vikruti of Koshas, which this author inteprets as disorders of

cells (mutations?) get reduced.

The toxins generated by doshas unbalances get thrown out of skin, as

a result of increased perspiration.

During Shivambu fasting (separate topic) Massage is compulsory, which

makes fasting easy. Increased circulation reduces the load on heart

and kidney during fasting.

Shivambu Kalpa has a statement that massage renders "Yogasiddhi'.

Interpretation of this is left to others.

Reactions:

In some persons, reactions are seen. Itching, small erruptions,

circles (as in ring worm), loose motions, dyscentry, fever, cough and

cold. These are caused by toxins leaving the body. Observe for a

week. The reaction stops automatically. No synthetic medicine to stop

reaction. Continue massage while applying urine packs on erruptions.

Once the erruptions subside, continue massaging those areas also.

Take the guidance of nearby expert or experienced person when in

doubt.

Following additiona clinical experience is offered:

Girls can douche with fresh or stale urine, (excellent for yeast

infections). One patient used douche for endometrial tumor.

In a double pot, warm-up two-to-eight-day-old urine then wet a towel

or rag with the urine and apply it over the affected area (this can

also be done with cold urine). Leaving the compress on the affected

area for 45 minutes or more makes this application even more

effective. For benign or malignant tumors and other serious problems

place a hot water bottle or small electric blanket over the compress

at one hour intervals, which creates an artificial fever that

stimulates circulation in the affected area. More circulation means

more oxygen, removal of waste and gradual healing. Repeat four or

five times a day. This application is excellent for gangrene, liver

cirrhosis, lumps in the breasts and skin cancer. Read further:
