Guest guest
Dear Shirish, You bring up the most appropriate question of what should be discussed in this column. I have seen manufacturers of Ayurvedic meds advertize here, "specialists" of alternative therapies, ( not related to Ayurveda) trying to get this space, and lately a few biased people, trying to force their opinion on everyone. I have not seen any Medical Doctor trying to deride Ayurveda in the 3 years that I have belonged to this group. I agreee withthe assertion that we should not prescribe willy-nilly, in this column, any medications. a) That is really not Ayurveda, since one has not examined or interrogated the patient, b) this is not a column for just Ayurvedic Vaidyas, for discussion of benefits of therapeutic maneuvres, and c) there may even be a legal responsibility for any qdverse effects. Personally, I would like discussion of Ayurvedic principles for " helping" the patients and other curious people , who to this column, which has in recent times become the equivalent of a "chat line", without imposing dogmatic emphasis. It should also be a forum for honest discussion without deriding one oe the system. There is no place for bias, but it is difficult to convince some authors, who are just convinced that everyone is out to " only cheat them". With all due respect to some author's personal problems with " modern medicine", let us not forget that people die of allergic reactions to peanuts and other vegetables too, which does not make the farmer a bad guy, and let us also not forget that no system of medicine is totally infallible, and that there are " asaadhya" rogas ( incurable) in ayurvedic practice also.
