How to become a good ayurvedic doctor

U should have solid idea about the disease u are going

to treat in allopath terms . for example heart diease

can be treated in alternative medicine but u need a

solid idea from the technical words like angina and

also how it is described in the alternative medicines

terms.

Secondly do not promise to cure all the disease. All

disease can not be cured. some one karma wrong habits

food styles etc will never make the medicine work in

effective manner. Therefore understand some disease

can be cured, some can be treated symptomatically,

some give support therapy, some only given relief,

some impact can be reduced to a great extent. So have

fair idea which disease u are good and not good in

curing. younger the patient easier to cure, older the

patient longer it will take and most of the time it is

only symptomatic relief.

Thirdly take the pressure of the time. For example

patient wants immediate cure there fore ask for the

time. Tell them it will take time. Many expectation of

miraculous cure is not possible. Be frank and straight

forward many people will appreciate u for that. With

experience u will get a fair idea how long it will

take time.

Use intuition in diagnosis and in drug selection.

Sticking some kind of formula is good but then praying

before writing prescription is good .

Do not talk ill of other system of the medicine. Just

say I do not know. psychically it pull down the person

energy very fast. Negativity will only produce

negativity.

Be kind to patient . Shouting howling will not help.

Patient can test ur patience and they can be

persistence with nagging questions. It is just that

they are frightened.

Try to chant some prayer on dhanvantri or

mahamrtunjaya this will help u to healing ability

better than the others.

Dear Gopal Krishnan ji,

Sadar Namaste. I enjoyed your enlightening post. I would like to add

something without taking anything away from your noble intentions.

Please do not think I am criticising you, I am only putting forward

my own opinion.

I know many diseases can not be cured. But I feel that the physician

must be supremely confident of his ability to cure any disease. It is

this bold attitude that leads to growth. The patient must also be

given the positive affirmation that "God willing" everything will be

ok. If required then certain mantras can be given for speeding up the

healing process. For people of other religions they may be encouraged

to visit their own represantatives.

Every patient, often even a terminal patient, hopes ardently for a

cure. Giving him a negative suggestion is not proper. I am currently

working with a number of doctors who feel that patients may be better

off if they are not informed about the serious nature of their

illness. This may sound controversial but it has been observed that

when the patient hears such words as "cancer" or "AIDS" he is half

finished. He stops his normal routine and becomes bedridden.

So long as the patient is confident of a cure then he can be cured.

It is only when the patient looses hope or looses interest in life or

starts adopting a lifestyle that is against his cure that the

physician should start worrying about the outcome of the treatment.

Regards,

Jagannath.
