Guest guest
Yes,dear gopal krishnan. besides your suggestion regarding becoming a good ayurvedic practitioner, i would like to contribute one most important point wich is much essential for an ayurvedic practionner. As per chraka clinical success depends on on four major factors mentioned as "CHIKITSA PADA CHATUSTAYAM" 1.Bhishak- The Physician 2.Dravya--- The Medicine 3.Upastata--The Assistant 4.Rogi---------The Patient. Among these each is having its own importance for clinical success. I here strongly expressing my personanl intention with a feeling of great agony that unfortunately most of ayurvedic practionners presently depending on the medicines manufactured by the companies which are always not to be trusted and doesn't be effictive than the medicines are prepared by practionner himself.Dependence on the market medicines are increased .This kind of practice and the clinical failure due to commercialise production ultimately reflecting on the efficiency of the physician and the faith on ayurved mean while. You can't appriciate the total desired effects of the medicine which are described in the texts of acharyas, from the companies, and in turn there would be some un wanted efeects also may be faced.Imagine what would be the situation, even after a careful and perfect diagnosis and selecting an appropriate medicine that fails just due to its inefficiency. It's really bad. As feel that If you want to become a good practionner you must be good at preparation. Here i would like to give one example. I once happened to give a medicine called 'Pancha sakara churna" and i precribed the patient to get from the market.Even after 3 weeks the patient doen't get a fraction of relief i expected. This made me to think long and finally the fault is found that the problem is with the medicine. So i thaught to prepare the medicine ,and i prepared this powder myself and given to the patient ,surprisingly the patient got relief with in 3 doses. This experience in my early stage of practice made me to stick on the medicines to be prepared on my own. Another intresting thing that, in every pharmacy they use pulverizer to powder the drugs.Do any body know what is happening?.Due to the speed and heat generated in the pulverizer some of active ingriedents may lost or netralized and the powders are seived through the steel seives. This is a very important point to be noted because as per the ayurveda, fine powders are to be abtained through "VASTRAGALITA" means only a cotton cloth is to be used for seiving.Intrestingly a cotton cloth able to absorb the un wanted things from the powder. Some times it can absorb some toxicity(If any in fraction quantity). An attept is made to evaluate this. The traditional practionners who are not qualified and not awared of scientific knowledge are spreaded every corner of india and are being practicing from the centuries and are being successful. The only reason according me is they are good at preparation they know the principles of collection of the drugs they know the mantras and exact time for collection.I think this is one of the secret of their success.. Finally i conclude with a request that Dear friends try to prepare the medicines your self as much as possible..For the better practice and for the betterment of the patient...All this is my personal openion iam not againest to any company and any person... I wish you all the best... Guest guest
Dearest Dr Venugopal, Sadar Namaskar. I would like to thank you for your excellent post and suggestions. I had been planning to discuss certain things along these lines but was not confident enough. We were recently talking about contamination in ayurvedic preparations. I went back and read an article on this by Acharya Balakrishnan, ayurved, the assistant of Swami Ramdev. He pointed out some very interesting facts. He said that himalayan herbs had become scarce and as a result they were now being grown in the plains. This divorce from the natural environment was robbing the herbs of their efficacy. Also mass production of herbs are done with chemical fertilisers resulting in contamination. The Patanjali Yoga Institute of Swami Ramdev is adapting organic farming and is also, through temparature control, trying to retain some of the original environment. About the traces of heavy metals, he blamed the process. Whereas earlier the metals were being processed in copper containers, now other containers were being used. Whereas fire should be used to heat the metals, electricity was being used. And yes, he also mentioned the use of steel sieves instead of cloth. I feel our group, being the largest online ayurvedic group in , should be in touch with the pharmaceutical majors to try and educate them about these wrong procedures being adapted. Regards, Jagannath.
