Ayurveda For pets?

Question about pets and Ayurveda:

 

I am a caretaker of stray cats and dogs and since I cannot bring them all into

our home I am wondering if there are certain benefits to using Ayurveda for pets

as well as myself? I am feeling better and better every day!

 

Since it is now cold outside I have already started giving our strays their

water room temperature or slightly warmer than usual as a test and they all seem

to love it this way and drink it more willingly than they usually do the very

cold water from the faucet. I don't know if this helps them per say but they

sure seem to like it more!

I think it is a wonderful idea to include your stray animals with you in

living an Ayurvedic

lifestyle. Absolutely, there are benefits to using the basic guidelines of

Ayurveda with your

strays. The principals of Ayurveda are all-encompassing, and pertain to humans,

animals,

plants, rocks, solar-systems and universes.

As Winter is approaching, we all need to focus on keeping warm. I think

giving the little

animals warm water will help them tremendously. If the Winter climate where you

are is

dry, insure that your and the little one's diet is sufficiently moist to

counteract the dryness.

I start to add cow's ghee to my cat's food this month- about a teaspoon once a

week. I

have never seen her coat be so beautiful and shiney. Her eyes are brighter, her

breath not

as repulsive, and her temperment much better. I continue to supplement her food

with

ghee once a week untill about February.

If dryness is an issue where you live, you may consider drizzling a little

bit of vegetable

oil or ghee in the little one's food once a week.
