Guest guest
Dear Group Members, Recently there has been quite an uproar over certain reports mentioning dangerous levels of metals in ayurvedic medicine and also the decisons of some countries to ban the same. Dept. of AYUSH, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt of India which is responsible for policy decision on such matters has come out with clear regulations regarding the same. Information on the same can be accessed at the following links:- http://indianmedicine.nic.in/ http://indianmedicine.nic.in/html/acts/Orders_%20D&C_%20Act.pdf http://indianmedicine.nic.in/html/news/perm.pdf Though not very enough it is a step in the right direction. I request all those who passed on information about previous reports all over the world to forward this message to all concerned. Guest guest
Dear Cybervaidya ji, Yes, I have come across the advertisements also in all the major newspapers in India. However this has also become a stick in the hands of the medical community who are speaking of the "toxicity of herbs" at the drop of a hat. Such scare tactics will make people wary of ayurveda. However very strict steps should be taken against fake pharmacies who are advertising various untested formulations; rejuvenators, breast enhancers etc. These preparations obviously contain chemicals and steroids. The media also should not carry advertisements of self proclaimed Vaids and Hakims who promise to cure anything under the sky. Now that qualified ayurveds have become active the public should avoid going to such frauds who claim to have divine powers. The illness of the ex-Indian President Sri K R Narayanan is also being attributed to ayurveda. What is the weight of the words of ayurveds who treated him before the learned doctors of the AIIMS? Such mud slinging has become the trend of the day. However the Govt is serious about ayurveda now. The Orissa Govt is finally recruiting 300 ayurvedic/homeopathic doctors for rural posting. Universities in Orissa are offering courses on organic herb cultivation, preparation and preservation of herbal preparations. The media is also more open to reporting on alternative therapies. There is a "samudra manthan" going on and we should accept the poison in the hope of getting the "amrita" finally. A naturopathy lecture, sponsored by the International Naturopathy Organisation, in a prime auditorium of Bhubaneswar was attended by a record audience who listened with rapt attention to what the speakers had to say. The event was covered by the local TV. The Vaidya's too must find time to educate the public. Now is the oppurtunity.
