Dear Friends,

If it is market economics that is fuelling the chemical and GM boom then it is

the same economics that can nurture the organics boom. You just have to exercise

your choice judiciously. Please take an active interest in what you use and ask

for the better product. Chances are you will get it. In the article below we see

how MNCs like Colgate are forced to go in for natural products faced with

consumer demand.

Once the giants go "natural" the media too will start reporting on the natural

products and remedies. The media is dependant on the giants for revenue through

advertisements and thus exhibit self restraint while reporting. Once bottlenecks

are resolved we will see a spurt in the "right" news.

Regards,

Jagannath.

Organic Products Turn into Big Business

by Chris Arnold

Tom and Kate Chappell founded Tom's of Maine in 1970, with a $5,000 loan

from a friend. Tom's is being sold to Colgate-Palmolive for about $100 million.

Tom's of Maine

Morning Edition, March 22, 2006 · If you are listening while brushing your

teeth, here's a story for you: Colgate-Palmolive is buying Tom's of Maine, the

leading maker of natural toothpaste.

It's just the latest example of a big corporation acquiring a company that

succeeded by selling organic or health-oriented products
