Guest guest
Dear Cybervaidya, I am a student at the California College of Ayurveda. I am beginning a research paper on Classical Ayurvedic Treatments of hair problems. After having looked in the Caraka Samhita, Susruta Samhita, the Astanga Hrdaya, and Cakradatta, I have surmised the following: 1. DARUNAKA is dandruff which in severe cases may cause hair loss. 2. INDRALUPTA(also known as RUJYA and CACA) is hair loss caused by Pitta and Vata in the follicle causing hair fall, then Kapha and blood clogging the folicle preventing regrowth. 3. KALITYA(in Caraka) or KHALATI(in Vagbhatta) is hair loss or Alopecia which may be of three types, Vata, Pitta or Kapha. 4. PALITA is greying of hair and may be of four types, Vata, Pitta, Kapha and Tridoshic. Is this correct? How would INDRALUPTA be different from a Tridoshic form of KHALATI? Are INDRALUPTA and KALITYA both Alopecia? Is it correct to assume that the KALITYA of Caraka is the same as the KHALATI of Vagbhatta? Thank you very much for your help and insight. Sincerely, David Wells
wimvanaelst
David, Did you ever got a reply to your questions ? I'm also an ayurvedic student working on hair research, and I would appreciate it if I could read your work or at least discuss about it. Would you mind contacting me on wim@wimvanaelst.com ? Thanks a lot, Wim
