Guest guest
No. The best meditation is my meditation, Words of Power, which you can learn free from my website http://members.cox.net/l-v-x/ in the meditation section. Try it for free before you get involved in Yogananda's cult. If you would rather have the instructions on CD so you can listen and follow along then try my friend and partner Billy Smith's website at http://thebiosoundmethod.com/ . - kishore kamarupalle Thursday, May 29, 2003 10:19 PM RBSC : kriya yoga HI, Do anybody know anything about kriya yoga. Guest guest
Kishore: I am a Kriya Yoga practitioner and I find it to be very good for me. I can't say if it is the "best" as I've not been inclined to try any other styles. If this speaks to you, check it out. As far as meditations being the best, just about everyone claims that the meditation style they use is the best. I know people who practice all styles of meditation. There is room for all, follow your heart. If you are interested in learning more, you may request free books from this site... www.csa-davis.org The month of May they are giving away any books that you request free. All you have to do is pay for shipping. The book list is on the site. May will be over shortly, so write to them ASAP. My favorites are The Eternal Way, The Path of Light, Seven Lessons in Conscious Living, and The Science of God-Realization. They are all good though. Hope this helps. Guest guest
With all due respect... the best form of meditation is the form that works best for you. If there were only one kind of human being, there could possibly be one best form of meditation. But alas.... different strokes for different folks. Whatever floats your boat.....etc. regards, alan >"Kirk" <kirk_bernhardt > ><> >Re: RBSC : kriya yoga >Fri, 30 May 2003 05:52:19 -0500 > >No. The best meditation is my meditation, Words of Power, which you can >learn free from my website http://members.cox.net/l-v-x/ in the meditation >section. Guest guest
Here is the probable reply to revered Marilupe Maldonado, an effort is made to bring clarity. Kriya Yoga Kriya yoga is a part of Yogic exercises based on Yoga "Sutras" (Principles). The most known, accepted and having authority in this field is Patanjali Maharshi's Yoga Sutras, which is as old as two thousand years. This volume deals with super conscious meditation. His written Yoga sutras are accepted and adopted by most. Yoga Vasistha is an excellent dissertation on the subject. There are three main alleyways in Yoga, such as Bhakti Yoga: Dedication and complete surrender to the Almighty. Gyana Yoga: Acquiring right knowledge to seek ultimate truth. Karma Yoga: Selfless action and revering every living and nonliving beings as Almighty. It is belived that these three paths in its right sense lead to Kriya Yoga. What is Kriya yoga? Kriya means action, where as yoga means practicing the spiritual growth. Kriya yoga mainly classified in to three sub divisions, Firstly practicing meditation, Secondly Chanting of Mantras and study of sacred Scriptures and finally complete surrender to God. Another school of thought advocates the idea that Kriya Yoga is the beginning of Yogic exercise. A simple exercise is prescribed in Yoga sutras for making a beginning of Kriya Yoga. This assignment is appended as under, One shall sit in calm and quite "Sukhasana" (Easy and convenient posture, which need not be Padmaasana) relax completely. Let all you limbs be loose without any stiffness. Take two or three deep breaths (You may perform "prannayama" too). After passage of some time, one starts feeling relaxed, at this stage try to listen a mantra or pleasing music from a tape at very low volume. While doing it try to be alone in a room (You need not lock the door) or in a place of solitude. One would sit in this posture as long as one wish (there is no time limit). After one gets satisfied bring one should bring ones palms to the eyes and cup both eyes. (Each eye shall be cupped separately by each palm). This activity is followed by opening of ones eyes slowly and studily. This activity relaxes the mind and one feel fresh with lighter mind. This simple exercise is prescribed by sages having authority in the field and forms part of the yogic Sutras. One may gradually switch to Mantra given by ones Guru. Here the meaning of Mantra is derived from Vedas. Mantra, "Man" means mind (The mind or "Manas") "Tra" means protector. Mantra will guide one and escorts one beyond any thought (whether negative or positive) and shall heads to ecstasy. The final stage of Kriya yoga is surrendering to God. This is done by renunciation. Here renunciation should be understood carefully. It is not running away from the basic responsibilities of one. One should not neglect ones responsibilities. This sort of running away approach would leave stress on the mind and prevent from attaining "Brahmanada", the eternal bliss. One living in the society while discharging ones duties and not attached to the materialistic afflictions and pleasures shall be the meaning of renunciation Kriya Yoga takes account of performing of "Mudras" and swinging ones body back and forth in ecstasy etcetera. Finally Kriya yoga is an effort made to know oneself fully with the help of Spiritual enlightenment and surrender of egoism and reaching the state of "Adwaita". It is the pleasant state of mind. This is the Kriya Yoga in its simple terms. One may get guidance from Gurus and Ashrams which trains people in this field. Reference Books: Pathanjali's Yoga Sutras, Yoga vasistha, Bhagawat Geeta, Auto biography of Yogi (that cannot be neglected or omitted in this context).
