Why do we offer prasadam to God ?

Dear Sir,

I fully agree with you. I was only pointing out that any thing, food or

otherwise, which has been offered to God is called prasadam (blessed

thing). And things unoffered are called Bhog. According to Hindu

Sadachar, a prasadam item should not be RE-offered again, that is

"seva-aparadha". Bhog of any sort, including clothes, jewels, etc., is

to be offered, it then becomes prasadam. After becoming "offered" as

prasadam, it should not be offered-again. It makes no difference to

God, but for us that would be seva-aparadha (knowingly or unknowingly)

and this slows spiritual progress. The difference between unoffered

item and prasada-item is called buddhi.

Sukriya!!!

Dear George,

I agree with you on everything but one, we should not

consider ourselves as beggers even before God, we are

all souls including God(s), God(s) are in aonther

plane becausse they are enlightened and purified souls

and we are in the process of purification, God is our

heavenly father and we come here to learn, repay our

Karma and spiritually purify our soul.

Yes we have to be greatful to God in every aspect, the

only way is to help god by doing good things and

following a rightous path and being respectful to

elders, fellow beings, animals and nature as all of us

belong to one family and have same life energy.

In the same way we give brith to our childeran and we

wont expect them to consider themselves beggers and us

as masters. we relate to then through love, we respect

them.

Even swamy vivekananda has said this to the world. I

only learnt from his techings and I feel it is very

correct.

Om namah shivaya,

Best Regards,

Divakar.
