Guest guest
EXPLORING PURANAS Before the onset of Kaliyug Maharshi VedVyas was asked by his father to provide the gist of Vedas and Upanishads in the form of Puranas.Maharshi VedVyas had written 18 Puranas, which includes (Rather last of it) Kaliyug Puran. In Kaliyug Puran he narrated how the Yuga starts and ends. Some of the glimpses are; "People in Kaliyug do not speak Sanskrit; a language similar to it would be adopted" Maharshi given how the language looks like, "For Bhubukshu (Hunger) people speak Bhook". Further he gave narration of various rulers, for example, he narrated about Britisher's language as "for Shasti the speak Sixty". There was mention of Queen Victoria as Vikatavati. The guide line followed in all these puranas is to pass on the knowledge to be understood by both common person and a knowledgeable too. Some of the examples to corroborate this fact are as enumerated under. It is said "The Earth is resting on Shesh Naag" As per Common person, to rest anything sturdily, it needs a base. The word of Shesh naag was created. Shesh in Sanskrit means zero. So the earth is floating in space and not resting on anything is the explanation for a learned. While Lord Hanuman was leaping to Lanka, he felt his speed is getting retarded. He looked down to find a large demon floating on the sea. He remembered the narration given by Sugriv that it is named as Simhika. When Simihika appealed Lord Brahma, bestowed a boon to catch the shadow of any flying animal and can attract any animal close to it as prey. So he went down and increased his body size. Accordingly Simhika too enlarged its mouth. Lord Hanuman then took a miniature form of the body and went inside and destroyed the sensitive parts to kill it. For common person this is a warning that while talking journey one should be careful about such huge monsters. For a learned, it is nothing but BERMUDA TRIANGLE (Pacific Ocean) When Lord Krishna and Balaram were returning to their capital after killing their enemy in the battle, they were stopped by a man and a lady having huge bodies. The Man said that he was a king in previous Yug. He had the capacity to visit Vishnu Lok. So he took his daughter along with him to Vishnu Lok to Consult Lord for a better suitor. Lord said that the king made mistake of visiting him as the time difference between Bhulok and Visnulok is too large and on his return the king will find the change of Yug. He advised the king to approach Lord Krisna and give her daughter's hand in marriage to Balaram. For a common person it was narrated that there are lokas above and below the Earth. Atal, Vital, Talatal, Mahatal, Rasatal, Pataal are below Earth and Bhuvar, Suvar, Maha, Jana, Tapo, satya, Vishnu lok are above Earth. Further it was clarified that the duration of time for any day differs greatly between any two Loks. For a learned the theory of relativity fits in here. Any epic shall be read with reverence and regard and one should also study to explore the hidden meanings in it.
