Dear All,

To get a good Guru, one should first become a very good Shishya, I think.

Let us try to become very good shishyas so as to become eligble for getting

good gurus. I am sure, He transforms Himself into a Guru to guide us the day

we become very good shishyas.

Love and regards

Thank you very very much. And also thanks for removing my ignorance about

Re: who am i ?

Dear Krishnaji,

I fully understand and agree with you but the problem

is finding a right guru who is accessible to us. maybe

I didnt frame my response correctly, All I am saying

is in my humble opinion that we will find many gurus

and teachers along the way, we just have to recognize

them.

I just want to share with you and others of this group

about my humble experience, it may or may not be

helpful to others but my heart wants to share and

express gratitude.

A while ago, in my spiritual quest I was confused and

was having many unanswered questions, I got directed

to this group by diving guidance of lord shiva, I have

learned a lot from the postings and the responses to

my questions of the respected members of this group, I

consider most of them as my gurus, these people have

cleared my doubts and guided me when I was confused

and upset. I had some questions about lord shiva,

meditation, Gayatri mantra and mantra chanting etc (

some very silly) and respected members like KSRao ji,

Saidevo, ArjunPunditji, George Pillai ji, Prasannaji,

etc have clarified and guided me, Now I have found

certain peace and direction in my quest for truth, I

have developed a confidence that I am in the right

track. honestly I am seeing things, my life has

changed, I am able to meditate. I will always be

greatful and thankful to this group and its members

for sharing wonderful information, answering my

questions and clearing my thoughts and guiding me.

Not only this group there are a number of resources we

just have to look, like the bible says, "ask, and you

will get it", we just have to ask or seek. God may

even give us a great guru who knows :)

Om namah shivaya,

Divakar.

Re: who am i ?

Hari Om,

Thank you very much for the reply. I agree with you. I was also thinking

about fake guru's, the one I had in mind lives in New York, well over 65

years of age now, used to be an atlethic, and wants his followers to be also

(they have to run everyday so many miles). He writes songs, paints birds,

and write spirituality in a more sensational way, not very deep going at

all. Devotees have to meditate on his transcendental photograph (not

photocopy). He has lots of bodyguards, and appears in the public as a

muscian. he writes songs in public. (Sri Ch....)

I never had in mind the genuine, God sent guru's as undermentioned. I

have a veneration for all of them, and have even their books which I

cherish.

This is our world anyway; In all this we have to live unattached.

Namaste,

Philippe De Coster

I agree, with you both, even I had the same expereince with a Guru, but

all are money making, thing, he was looking after his parents and other

family members sending money, and he want to get his brother's children to

study here in USA!

I am not talking about that kind of fake Gurus, I am talking about the

genuine ones, which want to help the devotees to grow spiritually, Like

Ramana Maharishi, Rama Krishna Paramahansa, Swami Vivekananda, Swami

Sivananda, Swami Chinmayanada, Swami Tejomayanada, Swami Dayananda

Saraswathi, etc etc.

I do appreciate Divakara's statement as undermentioned. In the West, even

more in Northern Europe, it is difficult even impossible to find a good

Guru. But, it is as you said, "with or without guru, what really matters is

Bhakti and love to come closer to God, and closer one comes, through

selfless service or devotional service, meditation, knowledge in the

Scriptures.

Many a guru are big money-making in the West (I only know about here in

Europe). They preach selflessness, but they don't, and act through their

collaborators to gather packs of money from their disciples. Many years ago

I landed in a meditation group, and I thought it was wonderful, meditating

together, and learning Sanskrit songs, etc. After a while, one after the

other, pleading for money came. That which made me to leave the group was:

The 33rd anniversary of the guru serving in the West was to be celebrated.

As gift, every disciple young or older, student or not, had to give one

dollar for each year the guru being in the West. That was 33 dollars in

1998, a lot of money to give over here in those days. If you were a disciple

for more than one year, you had to give an extra lumpsum, but I forgot how

much it was. If I remember well, it was 100 dollar. Although the small local

group met quite often in my appartment, I left the group. I think they left

even my own town. Everyone

got wiser at the end.5 I have a complete file on the guru in USA.

Sorry about this, I had to pour out my heart.

without bhakti and love cannot take us close to god.

Please think it over, God is simple, spiritualty is

simple, it all starts with Good and love, if we open

up to good and love, things will happen, because we

are seeing this world through Gods view.

Best Regards,

Om namah shivaya,

Divakar.

Re: who am i ?

Dear All,

I agree phillipe Ji, Getting a good Guru is becoming hard to good

guys.....I believe that good guru is searching for a good disciple....I

think if we develop ourself and try to become more and more perfect, then in

one stage that good, great guru come to us automatically....it like we all

in 5th road but that good guru is on the cross road of the 1st lane....if we

try to become perfect each day and every minute by becoming true, humble,

honest, not money minded, dettached, love for fellow beings (compassion)

without any expectation and move forward...then we will meet our good great

Satguru on the first lane....then he will lead us to laneless lane....

Actually speaking we are learning from others mistakes.....i think

each one of us is going to be a satguru for the future generations....thats

why lord is showing bad gurus and their mistakes. From their mistakes he's

showing how a satguru shld be and shld not be....so lord is so mercyful and

clever....Omni potent, Omni Science and Omni presence...and lead us

rightly....

He know how to do and when to do....we are kids and really when we get

the potential and right time to read then he will give admission in his

school....till that we need to play and be a part of his play....

A good Seed cannot stay in the bad soil. so a good disciple. No worries

bad gurus for bad disciples. Even the bad disciple once realise their

mistakes and try to become a good human then they also wont stay with the

bad guru.

Evolution is a continuing process thru many births....

No worries..No hurries....Right thing will happen at Right time....

Anbe Shivam (love is shiva).....

With love,

A loving son of Mercyful Father Shiva :)

Divakar.
