The Valampuri (right handed) Conch is a very rare thing and is considered as

very auspicious. The conch & pearl divers say that for a thousand normal

ÔIdampuriÕ conches (left handed) one ÔValampuriÕ is found. They call this is the

Raja Rani Shank. It is said that the Valampuri Shank is represented by Lords

Vishnu, Shankara and Brahma together with the Goddesses Lakshmi, Ganga

and Saraswati. It is used in temple worship and kept in the prayer room of

homes. It is a symbol of purity and righteousness.
