Adiyen was wondering if anybody could throw some light

on the significance of Cin (pronounced "Chin") Mudra?

Adiyen has seen photos of periyava (both U Ve

Annangarachar Swami and U Ve Velukkudi Swami) in this

mudrai (with the thumb and index finger touching, and

the other three spread out).

Adiyen also came to know that Udayavar, in Thirupathi,

in Perumal's sannidhi, is in this (upadesa) posture.

Adiyen Ramanuja Dasan.

Srimathe ramanujaya Namaha

Our sampradayam (ramanuja siddhantham) is tattvatraya sampradayam.  Acharyas

give the rahasyatrayas to the shisyas and give them the knowledge.  The cin

mudra or the upadesa mudra indicates/reminds the tattvatraya and the

rahasyatraya to all.

As a matter of fact even our vishistadvaita sanyasis hold a tritandam in

their hands.

Adiyen welcomes bhagavatas to shed more details on the same.

Sri:

Thanks for the quick clarification.

Just to make sure Adiyen is on the same page,

ThathvaThrayam is the Achit, Chit, and Easwara

thathvam, while the RahasyaThrayam is the

Thirumanthram, Dwayam and Charama Slokam?

If somebody can explain the tridandam a bit more that

will be most welcome (all adiyen has heard is that of

the three, one comes through the generations through

various Jeeyars...may be signifying "Or An Vazhi"?).

Adiyen Ramanuja Dasan.

Dear devotees,

Adiyen remembers the following explanation on Cin

mudra from a Vedantha text book :

The three fingers standing out represent body, mind

and intellect i.e standing out, going beyond or

transcending one's body, mind and intellect (BMI)

The index finger bending - Meaning - surrendering or

annihilating one's ego

The result of the above two is a circle formed by the

index finger touching the thumb - i.e one realizes the

supreme (Narayana).
