Namaste Dr P V Sesha Sai Aswamedhayaaji,

Thank you for your note, this was inspiring and most useful.

If I amy , perhaps I can add a point ot two and ask you for your

insights and comments.

This water (apa) tattva you speak is of great interest.  This water

principle (apviti) comes from fire principle, fire from air and air

from akasha.  Yet this water, is of great import.  An individuals

vitality (retas) is based in water principle.

We also know the lord of the waters is Varuna, from 'uru' or always

wide, as mentioned in the Rk Ved. Varuna is the lord of all

infinities and  master of the oceans ( a name for consciousness) and

akasha.  From this he grants us wide vision, so states Sri

Aurobindo, in his narrative on Varuna.

It is believed that the water principle ( tattva or tanmatra) and

the vital force in us ( prana, not just air, but life force) are

connected. This prana is the essence of the water principle.  Water

that we touch, drink, wash, is the material form and prana the

subtle form.  Retus is the foundation for water. This is spoken of

in  Brihadaranyaka Upanishad (Chapt 3, 9th Brahmana) and the

conversation (debate?) between rishi Yajanavalkya and Sakalya.  Yet,

the foundation for retas is asked.  To that Yajanvalkya

answers 'hrdaye iti, hovaca"  it is in the heart.  This is not the

physical heart but ones being.

So as we talk of many rivers , and nadi , we have the same in us,

the nadi's that all emainate from the heart. It is said there are

101 nadi's and 'currents' flow ( like in rivers) from this heart

region. This principle of the heart is throughout the Upanishads and

is mentioned multiple times in the Gita by Sri Krsna.

As we know Saraswati as a river, we also know her as the

inspiration, wisdom, and flowing ( like a river) consciousness.

Such is the greatness of the rishi's that can speak on many levels ,

both subtle and material; for them they are at home with satyam rtam

brhat, the Truth, the Right and the Vast and reside in rita-cit ( or

Truth consciousness) as they speak.

Perhaps we can discuss this more, the rivers, the nadi, Saraswati,

and the benefits of 'bathing' not only in the flowing rivers of the

Ganges , but along side and with the flowing rivers of pure

consciousness within us all.

Pranams,

yajvan

Now we may have to refer to the quality of the water.

We might have been thinking of the rivers as just RIVERS and water –

a usual boon, but now you observe - what a difference?
