Guest guest
In the strict sense mOksham refers to a state - a state of release from bondage - from the bondage of cycle of births. It could be either kaivalya (the state where the atman enjoys itself) or paramapadam (where the atma is at eternal service to Sriya;pathi SrimannArayana for His happiness). Vaikuntam is another term for the latter. chitra.majumdar (AT) wipro (DOT) com wrote: Dear All, I want to know the difference ( If exists) between the above two While most the Sanskrit literature talk about Moksham , Pasurams talk about Vaiguntham Can anyone throw some light ? Guest guest
Sri: mOksham referring to a state (a state of release from bondage - from the bondage of cycle of births) is a correct definition. Stricly speaking in Sri Sampradhayam "kaivalyam (which is state in which one enjoys one's own athma" is NOT considered as mOksham since it deviates from the very definition of seshathvam (servitude). Also, Vaikuntam is not another term for the latter. Vaikuntam is a physical place, a wonderful place filled with ONLY sudha sathva guna, which is the eternal abode of parathva Sriman Narayanan and is the place one reaches after attaining mOksham and performing service to Emberuman eternally. One who attains the state mOksham and reaches the place Vaikuntam never returns to this material world. Kindly accept adiyen's mistakes. Guest guest
Jai Shri Krishna, so does that mean that different sadhaks enjoy different fruits at the time of release of bondage...as Krishna says in Gita, you attain what you meditate on. So if you dont meditate on the personal feature of the lord and aspire to merge with the lords impersonal feature, as expounded by advaita, does that mean at the time of Mukthi, you atain merger into the lords impersonal aspect??? Whereas Vaishnavas who are attracted to the lords personal feature aittain Vaikuntha where they can engage in eternal service of the Lord in his supreme form?????? Guest guest
- According to Swami PLC in MukushuppaDi, the word "mOkshayishyAmi" in charamashlOkam of B.G (18th ch shloka 66) used by Geetacharyan explicitly refers to "anishTa nivrutti" which is release from bondage. The "ishTa prApti" part of the protection, according to PLC is supposed to be implicit in it. - SrivaikunTam and paramapadam (the word "latter" used in the first posting) are interchangeably used by our poorvAchAryas. Haven't come across any difference between the two.
