Dear Friends

Seemed appropriate to search the AgniMahaPuranam for references to

the Holy Rudraksa and found new references have never seen before

If anyone has more information on these words that describe the

different classes of Rudraksa please let us know at

ShiningLotus so we can try to understand more

The nameing of the Genus of Rudraksa here seems to be ancient

classical and comes light years before the anglos renamed the Genus

in recent history

Chapter 325 of the AgniMahaPurana states

The class of Rudraksa known as the Hamis should be worn by

consecrating them with the Siva Mantras

The Rudraksas are divided into four classes ( Gocaras ) such as the

Siva the Sikha and the Savitra. Gocara means a particular class of

the Rudraksas a hundred thousand counting of which grants success

with a Mantra

The Ruraksas known as the Prajapatyas the Mahipalas, the Kapotas and

the Granthikas belong to the genus Siva

The Rudraksa known as the Kutikas the Vetalas the Padma-Hamsas belong

to the genus Sikha

The Seeds known as the Dhrtarastras the Vakas the Kakas and the

Gopalas belong to the genus Yati while those known as the Kutikas the

Sarathas the Gutikas and the Dandins belong to the genus Savitri

Look forward to any and all comments on this text so we can better

understand this reference

Thanks and Take Care
