Guest guest
Siva, Shiva, Shaiva, means the auspicious. Shiva is described by Muktananda as the deep blue bindu which expands until you can see the form inside of the deity. This deity is the primordial wisdom of self awareness. I also believe that the deity in Buddhism is known as Samantabhadra, which means "totally excellent." Shiva as Nataraja is the expression of nirvana as the same as samskara. This is enlightenment. The pure dance of awareness. Nataraja, Ardhanarishwara are two bi-sexual forms of Shiva which portray the self birthing nature of the ultimate awareness. It always ways and wasn't. It is manifest and unmanifest. It is the whole world of awareness of form, and yet is also awareness of the formless. The bi-sexual form of Shiva developes into the polar Shiva Shakti for further elaboration by devotees. Yet the reality is that in primorial wisdom, the egg of the expanse of eternity, as well as the sperm of attention are one in the state of turya, kaivalya, nirvana, etc. The real development of enlightenment is more of softening the senses and mind to perceive this reality, and of bringing the intellect back to the state of understanding of the unity of everything. This unified state is Shiva, the most auspicious wisdom. For what can hurt something with no inside or outside?
