Guest guest
Actually, I've been a little concerned about pronounciation. I have recordings of some mantras by the late Harish Johari, and they don't sound quite as I would have imagined from the transliterations. When I listen to my friends from other countries,I'm not always sure that some sounds can be accurately transliterated, anyway. In fact, Old English can't be quite transliterated into Modern English. I'm also not sure about teachers, around here. I live in Movieland, baby! We have quite a few gurus-to-the-stars, but I'm not sure whether we have many of the real thing. BTW-- I remember when Goldie Hawn thought she was a Hindu. This year, I think, they're all Qabbalists. Or, Buddhists. , "Kirk" <kirk_bernhardt@c...> wrote: > Tom, I agree, and glad you are still with us. Maybe we needed a few fires to cook on. They are simply women who have lost their self respect. I don't think I said that they were behaving in an unseemly manner - I know better than to insult the Goddess! What I wrote was the following: "...I did chuckle at the last paragraph above: 'NO WOMAN WOULD ACT THAT WAY'. Clearly, thunderheals hasn't been in some of the I'm in! I've encountered some awesome manifestations of Ma Durga in those places. (Durga = strong or impenetrable or a hard to reach. Durg also means a fortress)." The exchanges I experienced with them were enlightening and transformative; these were women who knew very well how to work in the Goddess mode; they were prodigious and awesome, Ma Durga all the way. As Sri Ramakrishna said, we should look upon all women as Devi. Shivaram Das OmNamahShivaya! "God can be realized through all paths. All religions are true. The important thing is to reach the roof. You can reach it by stone stairs or by wooden stairs or by bamboo steps or by a rope. You can also climb up by a bamboo pole." -Sri Ramakrishna
