They just began to carry them and I guess more "westerners" are coming to understand how wonderful these treasures are, because they're now always out of stock. I happened to be one of the first to order them and when they arrived - they looked like plastic, as they'd obviously had been given a "finish" - and since mostly all of Firemountain Gems come temporarily strung (as the idea is to restring with our own creations), the beads were touching each other. I wrote to them asking what sort of finish they put on them and they said - Varnish!! Ouch! So, my question is - What now? Are their electromagnetic, etc. properties diminished/useless/ruined? Is there a way to restore them?? (Certainly can't use them for soaking in and drinking the water for blood pressure regulation!) They are all 5 Mukhi. Thanks so much for any help anyone can give. Though, my guess is that with the coating, the benefits are affected, if not nullified. But, thanks for letting us know about Fire Mountain. I buy a lot of beads, from them. You know, I don't buy from ANYONE but Rudra Centre, now. I just saw some beads, imported from China. They were large fives, and looked fine... until I noticed that they had a soft, plastic coating-- to add "sheen." Yes, the rudraksha are ruined as far as having spiritual energy. Varnish makes a film which cannot release the energy. They are still nice for play.
