Dear Zarembadavid,

Thanks for the e-mail. I try also to stay away from these things; however,

sometimes, I do have them in canned foods as they are part of the ingredients. I

generally try to stay away from a lot of canned foods, but now, due to SARS, I

am thinking that they are safer than fresh produce. Is there harm from these

ingredients in canned foods? Barbara

Historically, pungent vegetables are used by poor people to flavor their

cuisines which is why cultures with poor products are masters at spicing. This

is fact. For this reason also people of caste and money look down upon these

spicy ingredients as unworthy or unclean. The truth is that other people have

made a mode of worship, or respect for caste into a matter of taste eschewing

these tasty ingredients as unclean, unwholesome, and even evil.

Hahahahahahhahahha. What poor lives indeed these people must live. One man

giving the clothes off his back and raising ten children through blood and tears

might chew garlic cloves all day while yet another may eat only rice and drink

marigold broth, and yet lie, gamble, and cheat all his life. What does it

matter what one eats? What does the mind eat? What kind of thoughts do you

have? All these rules are for dogs, so that they sit, lie down, and roll over.

That's caste. Do what you feel is good for you. That's it! If it's wrong you'll

find out. But you people here are sensitive so now just go by feeling. The Gods

lie within, as close as breath. They are guiding you always. Just go with the

flow. Don't worry, be happy. That's the rule to live by.
