Shiva Kavach

 

SHRINU DEVI PRAVAKSHYAAMI

KAVACHANG SARVA SIDDHIDANG/

TRAILOKYA RAKSHANANG NAAMA

SARVAAPADVINI VAARANANG//

 

Listen, Oh Goddess, as I elucidate

the armor of all perfection, the name which protects

the three worlds, restraining all

negativity.

 

VAKTRA KOTI SAHASRAISTU

KALPA KOTISHATAIRAPI/

KAVACHASYA GUNAAN VAKTUNG

NAIVA SHAKTO MAHESHWARAH//

 

It is not possible for hundreds or thousands, not even

for millions of mouths to proclaim the qualities of

this armor, nor does even Maheshwar, the Great Lord

(or Great Seer of All), possess such

capacity.

 

OMKAARO ME MUKHANG PAATU

NAKAARAH KARNADESHAKE/

MAKAARAH PAATU SHIRASI

SHIKAARO HRIDAYE MAMA//

 

May the letter Om protect me in the face (or mouth), the letter

Na in the area of the ears. May the letter Ma

protect the crown of the head, while the letter Shi will

protect in my heart.

 

VAAKAARO NETRA YUGME CHA

YAKAARO BAAHU YUGMAKE/

AKAARASTU MUKHE PAATU

UUKAARO HRIDAYE MAMA//

 

And the letter Va in the two eyes,

while the letter Ya will protect in the two arms. Let

the letter A protect in the face, while the letter U

in my heart.

 

MAKAARAH PRISHTHADESHE CHA

PANCHAARNAH PAATU SARVATAH/

IITI TE KATHITANG DEVI

KAVACHANG SARVA SIDDHIDANG//

 

May the letter M protect on

the back side, and the five letters protect all over.

This, Oh Goddess, is the explanation of all

perfection.

 

TRAILOKYA RAKSHANANG NAAMA

SARVASIDDHI PRADAAYAKANG/

KANTHE VAA DAKSHINE BAHU

KAVACHASYA CHA DHAARANAAT//

 

The name which protects the three worlds, grantor of

all perfection. If one wears such an armor at the

base of the throat or on the right

arm,

 

SARVAPAAPA VINIRMMUUKTAH SA BHAVEN NAATRA SANGSHAYAH//

he will be released from the bonds all sin, of this there

is no doubt.
