Guest guest
Namaste. Thanks for this. I get shipments from Rudra Center India and have never had this happen. Am wondering if you contact your local DHL office that they could be of help. Could be that something spilled onto the package when they were shipping it over. We will also inform Miss Neeta. Guest guest
Greetings! I just received by first package from Rudra-Ratna in India. Everything is great in the shipment, however there was one thing I couldn't help but notice. The package and its contents had a terrible chemical odor to it. Has anyone else noticed this? I immediately wondered if items from India were required to be sprayed with insecticide or some similar product. Any ideas? Guest guest
Hi - Never noticed anything like that - I'm expecting a package next week and I'll check, but have had several orders arrive from Rudra Centre and have been delighted in every way. regards, alan >"S.A. Guest guest
The beads are often sent with camphor. This keeps away bugs, bacteria, and demons. - Alan Scherr Friday, May 23, 2003 5:49 PM RBSC : Re: RBSC : Package smells? Guest guest
My last shipment had a new style of velvet box that was orange with an Om symbol. Didn't notice an odor until this came up here. Yes, there is a chemical odor, but I didn't notice it until I actually put my nose right on it... Could not smell anything other wise and definately the rudraksha didn't have it. Perhaps it is in that new fabric.
Guest guest
If by chance the odor has got on the rudraksha..Beads can be soaked in a little bit of olive oil with a few drops of sandalwood oil in it..or really, any essential oil diluted by olive oil. Can also apply with an old tooth brush. That should do the trick plus the oil is excellent for the beads :-)
Guest guest
Dear Vajranathaji Namaste My Friend There is usually a heavy sweet smell in package and on all Holy Items that comes from the Inscence used in the Blessings Have never smelled this as a chemical odor outside the package Other option is that it might have been subjected to contact with some kind of chemical liquid during shipment or in customs. If this happened there is a possibility there would be at least two distinct odors. One of the Puja Inscence on the Holy Items inside the box and one of the chemical odor on the outside of the box Wish we were a little closer geographically so I could investigate exactly what the odor might be Thanks and Take Care My Friend DharmaDev S.A. Guest guest
Dear Friend Thanks for information......if odor has been isolated to this acrylic box item then is something have not experienced before Thanks and Take Care DharmaDev Steven Feite <safeite <> Friday, May 23, 2003 8:39 PM Re: RBSC : Package smells? It appears to be primarily from the orange and maroon velvet box that is a storage box for the items I received. I am guessing it is simply the acrylic used for this velvet (perhaps). It is definitely not puja incense. Steve To send an email to:

It was rather strong on mine, and I as I consider it more it is a similar smell to some types of vinyl like used in flooring, sneakers or some cars--only stronger. It is out-gassing and I think as it airs out it will go away. The para bead's cord tool on some of the smell but that is going away. My primary concern was that it was the para. It was not. Guest guest
I just received a 14 mukhi rudraksa in an orange cardoard box with an OM symbol on to from the Rudra Center. I did not notice any odor whatsoever. I have never had any adverse effects from wearing the beads--no heat, allergies, etc., and I wear A LOT of beads. Barbara - S.A.
