Guest guest
Dear Sudeepji and Friends Adding some of the scientific findings from Subas Rai Book on importance of thumb and finger tips in Mudras .....as mentioned finger and thumb tips contain numerous closely spaced tactile receptors and correspondingly they cover considerable areas of the sensory reception in the brain. Of the total area thumb covers more than that of the fingers. This seems to be the reason for the special significance of the thumb in chanting the Mantras with Mala. The thumb and fingers relay signals to their respective sensory areas by sensory nerves. The thumb by radial and median nerves.......index, middle and half of the ring finger by median nerve The remaining half of ring finger and small finger by ulner nerve. Each thumb or fingers electrical signals are variable and different and on coupling with other fingers get altered in amplitude and phase. On using different finger combinations for chanting different Mantras there could occur the effect of modulated signal amplitudes and phases on the brain which in turn might produce the likely effects as described in the scriptures though the research on this cause and effect mechanism are yet to be done. .....Application of Rudraksa held between thumb and fingers forms a simple capacitor and helps maintain the constant amplitude, with modulated frequencies, reaching to the sensory areas of the brain. Since there is different bioeffects experienced from application of different frequencies........ each of the different Mukhis....... with their different frequencies......... would produce specific bioeffects in such uses............. depending upon their different modulated signal outputs. In addition to the specific bioeffects caused by the different frequencies of the different Mukhi Beads........ there is also a mechanical stimulus caused by the exterior thorny surface projections of the different Mukhi Beads. The process of touching or holding or haveing the exterior surface of the Beads touch the body was found to increase the frequency of body signals and to stimulate sensory organs of the body. There is much more scientific documentation in the Subas Rai book that can be investigated however some of the language and concepts are probably better understood by electrical engineers Thanks and Take Care My Friends DharmaDev Sudeep Radhakrishnan <sudeepradhakrishnan <> Friday, May 30, 2003 7:19 PM RBSC : Mudra for the left hand while Japa Dear Dharmadeva arya, One of these days I read that Buddhists use both their hands to hold their japa malas during japa whereas the Hindus use their right hand. Is there a specific mudra which the left hand could practice while japa is done ? Is there any harm in using both the hands to hold the mala ? regards Sudeep srdharmadevaarya <shininglotus wrote: Dear Freinds Also was reading this in the Gems and Rudraksa Book For the worship and rituals of almost all the Gods and Goddesses the Jaap or frequent Chanting of some Mantras is compulsory with a definite number according to each of the Gods and the Goddess for the fulfillment of desires. In this case the best means to count Mantra is by counting beads in Mala. By useing a Mala it tells us how many times we have counted the Mantra without haveing to maintain attention on the counting. In addition to this a subtle electric current is created in the mind by rubbing of the thumb with finger as we move from bead to bead. This electric current also influences the heart through Vagus Vein and makes mind concentrate deeply. It can be asked why there are 108 Beads in a full Japa Mala neither more or less ? According to Vedic Astrology there are 27 constellations in the universe and each constellation has four quadrants hence there are 27 x 4 = 108 quadrants in all. There are 9 Planets in Vedic Astrology and 12 Astrological Signs of the Zodiac again showing 9 Planets x 12 Astrological Signs = 108 total. Thus 108 has been considered the best number to join the Individual Consciousness with the Absolute Consciousness. There are many different kinds of Mala used in Spiritual and Meditational purposes Lotus Seed Mala ( Kamal Gatta Mala ) This Mala is used for the wroship of the Goddess Lakshmi for Jaap or to Chant Her Mantra. ther is special importance to Chant Her Mantra with Lotus Seed Mala. Mala can be strung on thread or strung on silver and capped with special silver Lotus Caps. Turmeric Mala is used to perforn Amustand ( special prayers ) and destroy enemies and succeed in law suits. If a person has fallen prey to Jaundice he should wear garland of 8 or 10 beads of Tumeric. Tulsi Mala and Kanti ( Neck Mala ) is regarded as the best for worshipping of Lord Visnu, Lord Rama and Lord Krisna. According to Ayurveda it is very useful in the throat disease. It is also used for the purification of the body. Conch Mala is used for special tantrik experiments and exercises Baijanti Mala is used by the devotees of Lord Visnu and for chanting Mantras to worship the Goddess Lakshmi Sphatik Crystal Mala is the best Mala for counting beads while chanting Devi Mantras. If it is worn the mind becomes pacified and quiet. The wearer becomes pacified and quite. Wearer becomes the most favorite of the Lord Siva. Rudraksa Mala is very much effective and is used in all kinds of rituals while worshipping Gods, Goddesses. Nine Planets. If any particular Mala is not available Rudraksa Mala can be used. Thus it is considered the best of all Malas. Navratna Mala is used to Pacify Nine Planets. There are Nine precious or semi precious stones corresponding to the Nine Planets in it. It gives mental peace when it is worn Thanks and Take Care My Freinds DharmaDev To send an email to: Catch all the cricket action.
