" PETER : How much impotance should one who is following the Guru,'s path attach to scriptural injunctions and iformation ? For example,the Shiva Purana gives much information,which you may not have given to us,on the mantra Om Namah Shivaya.Also,about rudraksha beads.How much of this are we to believe without consulting you ? BABA : All that you have read so far in fhe Shiva Purana is true,but you should read more.You should consider a scripture as a whole.Generally speaking rudraksha beads should be strong and genuine.They may be five or six-faceted.Whether they are big or small does not matter much.All the technical details are mentioned for tantric rituals,not for everyday use.For these rituals it is necessary to wear certain numbers of beads on the head, neck, etc.Likewise there are rules about mantra.All the rules about the mantra are true and there has been much written about the ways to use it.A mantra is repeated in different ways for different powers..... " 2. " GEORGE : Would Baba please explain the full symbolism and proper use and care ofone's rudraksha beads,and why the rudraksha plant is used for the beads ? BABA : The answer to this question could fill a large volume.It wouid be enough to say that rudraksha beads stand for Rudra and Rudra is Shiva.According to the scriptures,one who wears rudraksha becomes like Rudra.These beads are very pure......." 3. " The sages have said that rudraksha beads are like Rudra or Shiva.Rudra is the one who destroys all miseries,all pains,dreams and all mental fluctuations.Rudraksha beads also accomplish all that if you have pure feeling towards them,and use them regarding them as Shiva.They steady the mind,putting an end to its wanderings.While wearing them you should feel that you are wearing Lord Rudra Himself around your neck.That is the right attitude to one's mala....."
