Guest guest
I don't think the identity of this plant has been determined. For those listmembers that may not be familiar with the episode, this is in the Yuddha Kanda(i think, don't know the verse) where Lakshman (Lord Rama's brother) is hurt in battle in Sri Lanka and Lord Rama then asks Hanuman to fetch the Sanjivani herb (i think the part mentioned is the root but again i'm not sure). Not being familiar with the herb, Hanuman decides to lift the entire mountain and bring it over. Lakshman is then revived... There has been some speculation that it might be Trichopus Zeylanicus (Aarogyapacha) but since it is not a Himalayan plant, no one can be sure. Guest guest
Namaste Arjunaji: I don't know if this is what you are looking for...' I recently have come upon some wonderful devotional prayers in Sanskrit to Lord Hanuman that refer to this wonderful deed. Am wondering if the healing came from Shri Hanuman Himself as opposed to the herb mentioned as so much of his Grace is connected to the energy he brings to the individual's prana. Considering the notion that there is healing in the mantras associated with Lord Hanuman or even within that section of the Ramayana to restore health and vitality. Have spent a tremednous deal of study the past year with the Baba Atibala Mantropanishat, which is a series of mantras given to Lord Rama by the Sage Vishvamitra mentioned in the Balakanda section of Ramayana. The mantras themselves are not a part of the text itself, but I managed to come upon them. It appears they were given to assist Lord Rama in tending the yagna fire and to strengthen him to receive the missile mantras. The more time I spend with them, the more it seems to me that this is indeed Sound Healing. The the mantras themselves have very restorative and rejunvenating powers. Just offering the perspective that such mantras may be around the story of Lord Hanuman's intervention in bringing Lord Lakshman back to health as well as there being the actual herb. (as there are herbs Bala and Atibala). Something you may want to think about. Guest guest
Dear Arjunaji Namaskar My Friend and thanks for your message Looked in my books on Ayurveda here and even went to Monier Williams Sanskrit English Dictionary and could not find Read the Srimad Valmiki Ramayanam Yuddha Kanda Canto CII translated by N Rhagunathan and there are four herbs found mentioned visalya karani savarna karani sandhana karani sanajivini Would like to see an interpretation of this Canto. Has been said that the Avatar Rama was more than one physical person. Can anyone verify that Sri Rama was actually three people Rama and Lakshmana and his Sister ? If this is so then Canto CII takes on a most important lesson specific to the herbs mentioned Thanks and Take Care My Friend DharmaDev Freyr <freyrk <> Monday, June 23, 2003 7:44 AM Re: RBSC : Sanjivani ShiningLotus <shininglotus wrote: Dear Arjunaji Namaskar My Friend Can you tell me what Book of the Ramayana and what verse Thanks and Take Care My Friend Hi DharmaDev, The passage is found in the book called the Lanka Kanda or the Uddhara Kanda depending on the version on uses. Guest guest
Namaste Kantiji, I would be interested in the mantras you have been using. I would like to have a reference to them or if you can if you would send them to me or post them to the list, I would be most appreciative.
