Namaste and respects Friends,

Some info to share based on personal experiences of using japa malas

since age 9:

The rudraksha and sphatik mala is a powerful synergistic

combination. If used for japa and worn 24 hours a day, becomes like

a kavach after the many thousands of rounds of mantras chanted.

Rudraksha in this case represents Deva. Sphatik represents Devi;

Shakti. Being Devi/Shakti, the quartz magnifies the effects of the

mantras. (Hence sphatik is traditionally? used for chanting mantras

to Devi.) The magnifying effect was like a "mirror effect".

When this particular mala breaks or snaps off, I find it better to

put in on the altar with love and give thanks for the work it has

done. Upon breaking, the mala's 'mission' is completed. I found it

beneficial obtain a new mala and begin anew, instead of repairing

it.

After having counted the number of beads that disappeared at any time

when one such mala breaks, the number usually corresponded to the

number of "ills" that could have befallen, going by earthly events of

the time.

When one repairs a broken mala, it is like trying to piece together a

broken mirror that had been used for ritual work. No matter how

expertly the mirror's pieces are glued back together, the cracks

remain, whether they are seen or unseen by the naked eye.

I tried repairing and re-using this certain type of mala but the

effects were not the same, it was not the same mala again despite the

puja to purify and re-energise it.

As rudrakshas find their own homes, it occurred to me that the lost

beads also found their rightful homes (out of my life). It was like

a kind of timeliness: All things have their time, season and rhyme.

Anyone has comments and experiences to share? All highly appreciated,

thank you.

Om Namah Shivaya,

Sy
