Dear Mrinal,

I agree with you, for Indians rudraksha are very

costly.

Maybe One can com in contact with Rudraksha in only 2 ways :

one is either rich or has a lot of other merits (spiritual)

( I myself am not so rich ,but I got spiritual merits and

it helps me , Scriptures say that it takes a lot of merits to come

in contact with Rudrakshas)

So if you dont have so much money and the way of the world is not

your way ,you should not worry !

but try to improve your spiritual merits instead ,

maybe you will be so lucky one day as to attain

the "Immortal Rudraksha" inside you

or you can also try to have your own Rudraksha tree,

,wait for some years I think, and it will be yours ,sooner or later

Whatever happens ,have faith in the divine !

at first it appears as such - but man has done this with diamonds, rubies,

amber, pearls

if someone wants it someone is there to sell it to the highest bidder

but you can plant a tree and grow your own

of course you need property with the proper climate

or you can sell them

such is life on planet earth

it's only a dream

Sad but true. I find this to be the case not just with Rudrakshas but

any natural product. As the earth's resources dwindle each

day, "natural" objects will become more precious and expensive.

Spiritual materialism is here to stay oh say for another 426898 years

(assuming Kali yuga started in 3102 bc). So my plan is to reincarnate

repeatedly and get a glimpse of what the golden age might be like. At

an average life span of 70 years, it will take me 6098 rebirths to

get there. This I hope to accomplish chiefly by eating onions and

garlic. Since neither are sattvic, consuming them will lead to impure

thoughts and (hopefully:-)) impure actions. This will ensure rebirth.

However since they're both good for you, eating them might actually

increase my life span thereby ensuring fewer rebirths to get there.

Oh the paradox!

But seriously (please don't EVER take me seriously:-)), being in

India you are closer to the source. I'd imagine, they are affordable

near their natural habitat. If wearing an expensive rudraksha mala

was a prerequisite for spiritual progress, there'd be no hope for 90%

of humanity.

Like i heard a wise soul say recently, it's seeing the divine in all

of humanity (living it and not just saying it) that's a real sign of

spiritual progress. So don't you worry buddy. It's all good. End of

soap box.

Hello all - I would add to this discussion of cost that it is a matter of

what you value in life. People find money for all kinds of things that

simply distract or console them, but when it comes to the spiritual realm,

we expect it to be given cheaply or for free.

Good Rudraksha is a bargain at the price simply because it keeps on

giving.... where else can you find something that always gives??

best wishes,

Alan
