Guest guest
Ole: I didn't recommend the site because of SSB. I thought it was neat as there are examples from all 7 extant shakas in the vedic chanting section. This site also has the upanishads from the four vedas. I'm aware of some of the controversy surrounding SSB. For the record, i'm not a devotee of SSB or any other "guru". Other than the Sankaracharyas and the Jeeyars, i'm highly skeptical of all guru's especially the jet setting and materialising objects kind. There are very spiritual people in India but they don't seek publicity nor do they travel in flashy cars and so forth. Anyways, i highly recommend the book Yogis, Destiny and the wheel of time by KN Rao, especially to Westerners as a good guide along the lines of " You might be getting conned if...". Just out of curiosity, were you in Puttaparthi between 1986 and 1993? A really good friend of mine from Junior High moved there and i've always wondered what happened to him. Guest guest
Yes, the vedic chanting section did look excellent. I wish I hadn't had my pc speakers blown out during a thunderstorm. I would very much like to hear these chants someday soon. Thanks for this. - surajraghavan2002 Sunday, August 24, 2003 9:51 PM RBSC : Re: Mother of all vedic sites Ole: I didn't recommend the site because of SSB. Guest guest
Friends - let us be aware that controversy swirls around virtually every Guru, Master or other spiritual personality. This happens primarily because the energy around such ones catalyses upheaval and colors the perception of the viewer. Often, we are most harsh in relation to those very qualities in ourselves that we project onto the spiritual authority. Thus, Masters are crucified and judged by those who cannot fully embrace themselves. The examples are endless and well-documented.... As I understand it, this is not a forum for airing our judgments or criticisms of others, but rather to share our experience of Rudraksha as a boon to humankind. Rig Veda says, "Let us be together, let us eat together, let us share our lives together as One... never do we denounce anyone.... never entertain negativity". Peace, dear friends. Let's keep the focus on the positive. Love to all, Alan >"alstrup" <alstrup > > >RBSC : Re: Mother of all vedic sites >Mon, 25 Aug 2003 02:04:38 -0000 > >--- In >, "surajraghavan2002" ><suraj_raghavan@h...> wrote: > > All: > > Check it out. > > > > http://www.vedamu.org/ > >Beware! Guest guest
Alan: I'm not sure if you're aware of what the controversy is with SSB but it is of a very serious nature. I believe he is currently being investigated by both the FBI and there is a case currently lodged with the Indian supreme court. I say healthy skepticism is a good thing. The values extolled in the Rig Veda are certainly something to aspire to but let's not lose sight of the reality of living 21st century lives. Peace Suraj
Guest guest
Yes, Suraj - I am not saying that we should ignore abuse or the possibility of such. I am very aware of the controversy, but I am equally aware that whatever we focus upon, we create more and more of the same. There will always be some people who will have an axe to grind with anyone who has millions of followers. I have seen this time and time again. So, we are not in a position to be the judge and jury and put anyone on public trial in this forum. Let those who are responsible for investigating do that. But we are at choice as to how we create our experience individually and specifically. And that is what I am sharing with everyone. How we will create our experience here and now... Guest guest
Dear Alan, I am sorry to bring this up here, but I have several male friends and aquaintances who have been systematically abused sexually for years by this fraud godman in the sacred name of God and spirituality. The ongoing expose of him have been in the intl media for some years now and there are several ongoing police and judicial investigations in different countries, including India and the US. The US state department has even issued an official warning to american citizens not to visit his ashram. This is a long story. I am not out to critisize other people, especially on this board, but since the name of this particular man is associated with this website that was linked - and I was associated with SSB for a long time and also have been a part of the intl expose - I feel it is my bound dharma to make people aware of the connection, whenever I see such indirect advertizing of the SSB name. Your quote of Rg Veda is nice, but totally out of context as vedic law in earlier times would have executed a man with those asuric qualities like SSB. The Kali Yuga is an endless stream of false gurus, godmen and avatars. SSB is perhaps the biggest fraud in the God business for the past century. Guest guest
Allan, I refer to my earlier posting in this thread. There are numerous legal affadavits filed from many victims in several countries and it has been brought to the highest levels of the Indian, UK Govts. as well as high levels of the US Govt. The legal case in India is very complicated due to a lot of intertwined corruption in high circles in the judicial system in India, as well as the PM Vajpayee being involved. It is very ugly but Truth will prevail sooner or later. Over and out. Guest guest
Namskar Yes, soft-heartedness is surely the sign of an elevated soul. And at the same time, what did Lord Krsna instruct Arjuna to do on the battlefield? Lord Krsna did not approve of the so-called compassion of Arjuna for his kinsmen. Such deviation from duty does not help one in the progress of spiritual life. We should use discrimination, as we are all under God's Law.
