Thank you all for offering your insights! Just stumbled on this with the word vigraha: I am by far no expert in Sanskrit language. However, the many encounters I have had with the word vigraha, it refers to the divine/transcendental form or embodiment of the Lord. A deity of the Lord on the altar is named Archa Vigraha, an authorized form of God manifested through material elements, as in a painting or statue of the Deity (murthi) worshipped in a temple or home. However, according to some Sanskrit dictionaries the root meaning of the word is "attack", the only related word being vigrahasandhau = for war(dissension) or peace-making.
