Guest guest
Respected Dharmadevji, I have checked the picture of 'Ek Mukhi Rudraksha' given in Dr. Suhas Rai's book. The type of bead shown there is variation of 'Haridwar Two Mukhi Flat type of bead'. Very rarely we get 'Ek Mukhi beads in this type and are called as 'Shiva Pindi Ek Mukhi' or 'Java Ek Mukhi'. We also get very rarely 3 mukhi and 4 mukhi beads in this type. In North India this species is wrongly mentioned as 'Bhadraksha'. In fact it is not Bhadraksha but a bead from the species Elaeocarpus tuberculatus and Elaeocarpus oblongus. Both the species produce same type of beads however, E. oblongus (as the name suggests) produces little oblong beads. Cost of this type of Ek mukhi in India is INR Rs. 2500/- to Rs. 5000/- depending on formation and beauty of the bead. Thanking you and with best wishes. Guest guest
Respected Satishji, Thank you very much for your mail. Frankly speaking, I do not have any idea about the properties of the Ek Mukhi oblong bead. However, as mentioned earlier, there is much cheating in this type of bead eiether by sealing one of the cleft or by removing one of the cleft of the two mukhi oblong bead and one has to be very careful while purchasing these beads. There is always variation in the prices of Rudraksha beads depending on availability of the beads. Thanking you and with best wishes.
