Golf Ball Size Sphatik Bead Malas

Dear Sri Chandrashekhar,

Sincere thanks for your kind response. I was just wondering about

those golf ball sized sphatik beads because these are mainly used for

Devi worship and also to magnify vibrations when worn with Rudraksha

Siddha Malas or garlands of Gauri Shankar.

Much appreciate your feedback about the small sphatik beads having

milky white partitions/inclusions. I take it that these are the

Round beads you saw? Not the diamond-cut beads?

Please pardon my questions. This is because I'm very particular and

fussy about sphatik beads, especially clear quartz. I'm only doing

personal research on the different grades that are sold in different

places, mainly to satisfy my curiosity. All feedback helps, thanks

again!

Dear Chandrashekharji and Syji:

Last summer Dharma Devaji gave me some splendid totally clear faceted

sphatik that were golfball size.

They were the inspiration for the Crystal Devi collection and can be

seen on the malas as the Center bead on the website.

They are hard to get, unfortunately.

Perhaps Neetaji can get them now. I replenished my inventory with

slightly smaller but equally clear large faceted beads from a

supplier callled Fire Mountain Gems. www.firemountaingems.com.

They also have excellent quality in other varieties of Sphatik such

as amethyst, rose quartz, citrine..all in large sizes, but not golf

ball size..

Respected Syzenith,

Thank you very much for your mail. I have seen such inclusions in small sized

diamond cut beads also but I have not seen such inclusions in Sphatik Shree

Yantra or Shiva Pindi. If I could get any information in connection with

characterisation of Sphatik, I will let you know. I would suggest you to

contact Geology Section, Science Museum, London. I have been to this museum in

1991. You can get here each and every information about precious stones. It is

nicely displayed there from raw mineral material to the finished product.

However, I do not have any idea about service they provide. It is a common

practice in the UK that their institutions provide guidence on variety of

querries by paying small fees. You can also contact Natural History Museum,

London. They also provide such services. You can check their websites for more

information. For botanical problems I use to take help from Kew Botanical

Gardens and for mycological problems from Imperial Mycological Institute,

London. I personally have very good experience of these institutions.

Thanking you and with regards.

Respected Sri Chandrashekhar

Sincere thanks for sharing this great information. Yes, the museums

of course, and the Smithsonian in Washington DC! You're a gem (this

is an Aussie term to mean 'great/wonderful person')!

Kew Botanical Gardens and Imperial Mycological Institute ring some

bells.. Many years ago I was studying a little about Pitcher Plant

species from Borneo where I traveled around Sabah and Sarawak. I

might have used references from these two highly respected

establishments, I'm pretty sure. But sometimes my memory isn't very

good. Also looked into the world's largest flower, the Rafflesia.

Truly one of the 7 Wonders of the world botanically-speaking. The bud

alone is the size of a football. Some natives of the land use these

plants medicinally in remote locations.

Once again, thank you for your kind darshan and information.

small sized diamond cut beads also but I have not seen such

inclusions in Sphatik Shree Yantra or Shiva Pindi. If I could get

any information in connection with characterisation of Sphatik, I

will let you know. I would suggest you to contact Geology Section,

Science Museum, London. I have been to this museum in 1991. You can

get here each and every information about precious stones. It is

nicely displayed there from raw mineral material to the finished

product. However, I do not have any idea about service they

provide. It is a common practice in the UK that their institutions

provide guidence on variety of querries by paying small fees. You

can also contact Natural History Museum, London. They also provide

such services. You can check their websites for more information.

For botanical problems I use to take help from Kew Botanical Gardens

and for mycological problems from Imperial Mycological Institute,

institutions.
