Practical question on wearing Siddh Mala

Deal All, as you probably know, a Siddh mala consists of beads of 1-

14 mukh, and according to the design shown on Rudra Center wepbage,

the beads with an even number of mukhis (14, 12, 10, 8, ganesh, 4 and

2) are located on one side of the mala while the beads with an odd nr

of mukhis are on the other side.

Do you know which would be the best way to wear the mala:

1. so that the beads with an even number of mukhis fall on your right

side, or

2. so that they remain on the left?

This far I have worn them as indicated in point 1, according to the

logic: even number = right side, in order to fortify the overall

energetic structure

But on the other hand, even number = left side would be logical too,

to obtain a balancing effect ...

What are your experiences and how do you wear it yourselves?

Is there anything written on this ?

Grateful for your input,

Tiina

I'm working on mine Sis, I was a bit confused about the smaller 2-mukhis,

however, I will have mine done before, Navaratri. The energies work in

strange ways, when it comes to correcting things for me. I was threading

mine in 'man made' heavy duty thread. However, now that I've realized that

I did not recognize the 2-mukhis, I started to undo, and re-thread them,

however, this time in red silk thread, doubled. The problem I'm facing is

with the silver caps, the holes are so so so small.

Any suggestions, in terms of how I can make the holes bigger, do I take a

hammer and a nail, or I am thinking of taking a steel knitting needle, and

heating it over the stove burner, and then try and pierce the holes again,

perhaps with the heat, silver may melt a bit. Would it???

I want to do the 'praanprathista' during Navaratri. At this point in time I

have not given much thought to how I will be wearing it. I just don't want

it to be too long, and yet long enough to go over my head, I have not used

any spacer beads, however, have used the miniature rudrakshas to loop the

ONE mukhi, prior to linking it to GAURISHANKAR.

When I'm home, I usually wear my neclace backwards, so the GAURISHANKAR

hangs at the back, this helps with the kundalini energy.

i want my mala to look neat, and pretty, so that I can wear it all the time,

business and non-business. If I wore it backwards to work, I suppose no

one will know except me. So in that way the balancing of the energy does

take place. During night time, I soak 'em in olive oil, and give them a hot

bath in the morning, wipe dry and then sprinkle ganga jal and vibutti, and

kumkum, and the choice of perfume I personally will be wearing myself that

day.

For whatever Godly, reason, I keep referring to my beads as 'my babies'.

Bye for now.

Tiina:

I will try, and see if I can post the picture, am getting a new computer

'built'. As for looping the ONE mukhi, let me try and describe it, and see

if I'm making sense.

1. loop you thread thread through the ONE mukhi [starting point], you may

find and upholstry needle, which is in the shape of the letter 'U'.

2. Cover each hole with a cap, and then knot each side after the cap, and

continue on to thread with silver beads, or crystal, or miniature

rudrakshas, from each side, till both the threads come together.

3. thread a 'bead' or space through BOTH the threads, and then each thread

will be threaded through the 'tail' holes of the GAURISHANKAR.

By now your ONE mukhi will look like a pretty little basket!!!!

4. after you've gone through the 'head' holes of the GAURISHANKAR, tie a

knot and then continue to thread your beads on each side

Oh! I hope I'm making sense.

Love.

Re: RBSC : Practical question on wearing Siddh Mala

Hi Ladaji, great! You're making a siddh mala ! Once you're done, can

you post a picture for us?

I'm especially curious about how you tied the 1 mukhi: I can't

imagine, you said you used a small bead to loop it?

Do you use a needle to thread the beads?

About the spacers: I don't think heating a knitting needle would

work. I would just take a thick block of wood, an needle a bit bigger

in diameter and a hammer, place a spacer on the block, the needle

through it and gently tap with the hammer until the needle goes

through. I've done this occasionally, silver is soft.

Best of luck

So I see why you were so curious, my One mukhi came from 'Amma's' ashram and

does have a hole, however, a straight needly does not go through, and this

is why I used the 'U' shaped needle.

Love,

Later.

Re: RBSC : Practical question on wearing Siddh Mala

Dear Ladaji,

Yes I can see it. Usually the half-moon shaped 1 mukhis don't have a

hole in them - that's why I asked.

When I go out I wear the Mala like an adornment cause it looks so

pretty and yes, people notice it and comment on it saying that it's

probably made of some kind of seeds, and what tree is it etc. And I

have been telling them that they are called "the tears of gods"...

everyone just instantly accepts it and thinks it's a beautiful idea.

Then they ask if they could touch it and I let them of course... "my

Babies" seem to enjoy all the attention. It's curious though how the

Rudraksh immediately seem to bring about a feeling of something

sacred ... the look on people's faces, and how they touch them, with

such respect, so gently. And then they go their way, looking spaced

out... Cool ! Rudraksha awareness is spreading ...

And when I' at home I keep them next to my skin, and under my pillow

at night.

Namaskar:

Siddh Malas can be 1 -14 mukhi down to 1-9 mukhi with pairs strung

mouth to mouth generally of 2-7 mukhis sometimes 8 mukhi.

Traditionally, a japa mala is worn with the Meru at the back of the

neck, but when I have been assisting Dharma Devaji with designing the

Siddh mala..that bead is called a Center Bead. And in instances of

recommendation mala, the Center Bead is described as laying over the

heart.

Have Happy Adventures with yours !

Re: RBSC : Practical question on wearing Siddh Mala

Dear Ladaji:

It is very common to have the two center beads of Gauri Shankar and

1 Mukhi.

Not sure if you are referring to a specific mala order or not as I

don't have that info here..

But to have those two beads as Center is consider the most powerful

combination.

Enjoy.

Re: RBSC : Practical question on wearing Siddh Mala

Dear Ladaji:

It is very common to have the two center beads of Gauri Shankar and

1 Mukhi.

Not sure if you are referring to a specific mala order or not as I

don't have that info here..

But to have those two beads as Center is consider the most powerful

combination.

Enjoy.

Namaste Davidji, Tiinaji & Respected Friends

I can't speak for others but from personal experience, it is largely

one's shakti that matters, no matter what way we wear malas. Those

into classical Tantrism, Aghora and Devi Worship or Maa Kali devotees

may be able to expand more on this in regards Shakti. There are

female swamis and gurus as well :-)

Om Namah Shivaya

Much love

Kari:

Sis, I am learning to be patient. Last night, I had such a hard time

threading the double silk thread through the silver caps, so I undid the

whole thing. I will try your method, I suppose, this way there won't be too

much of a space between the GAURISHANKAR and ONE-MUKHI. I will end up using

some 'man-made' thread. Did you know that some people use [new and unused of

course] dental floss for making beaded jewellery, as it is cheap and very

strong.

will keep you up-dated, I'm off tomorrow, my flex day, every second week.

Love,

Lada

Dear Sis Lada,

When I was a dancer, we ONLY used (unwaxed) dental floss to bead and

repair costumes. The glass edges of the bugle beads were murder on

threads. Dental floss was the ONLY material that held for a remotely

reasonable period of time. I think it would probably work quite well.

We used unwaxed, because wax would cause the knots to come undone.

I threaded my malas with wire. I used sterling, because silver is the

most electroconductive of all the metals (I asked an electrical

engineer)<g>. There's a close up photo of my gauri shankar/one mukhi

connection in the Collector file in our photos. It's not my design..

I got it from the w/s. My gauri shankar are not capped, either-- I

used the little silver flowers. Between the wire and the flowers,

threading was easy.

Take care, enjoy your day off, and please keep us posted.

Much love, K.

Dear Sis Kari:

So what is the message here for me, perhaps, to use silver wire, I don't

have the details of my combination here with me, so is the mala kinda stiff,

with silver wire, and how did you end it, as mine will not have a clasp, by

knotting the wire will it prick my skin, how will I smooth it out, Sis??

Re: RBSC : Practical question on wearing Siddh Mala

You can use the dental floss. The rough rudraksha bead edges aren't

NEARLY as nasty as the bugle bead edges. It should work very nicely.

My mala isn't stiff. Lemme see if I can explain this without making

it sound more complicated than it is.....

My mala consists of a short choker(of beads that I feel that I need

every day) and a longer necklace. I can wear them separately,

together in two pieces, or hook them together for into one long japa

mala.

I strung the beads in sections (mukhi groupings) of three or four.

Between each bead in a section, I strung a quartz bead (to prevent

rubbing, and because quartz/spatik is also an excellent conductor). I

connected each section with a jump ring.

I wanted to be able to disconnect and rearrange sections (based on

mukhi) as my needs change. Because the wire is only about 22 gauge

(fairly thin) and because the pieces are wired in short sections,

connected by jump rings, it isn't stiff.

If you want to finish without a clasp, you might consider finishing

with a crimp bead, leave an inch or so of wire on each side, then run

it back through the nearest bead. No raw ends, that way. The ends are

buried in the bead. That's how I finished the two bangles that I

made.

Much love, K.
