Guest guest
dear brothers and sisters it is indeed heartwarming to see so many here with ganesha as their istha dev. no wonder i found my way to this list! as for myself i have been a bhakta since i can remember(since maybe i was 8 yrs old...i think). one thing i have noticed is that he always manages to come to me in some shape or form. what i mean is that i have always owned atleast one idol of the lord for puja purposes. recently for more than 5mths i was without an idol of him. then one friend visiting from india gave me a gift and guess what it was a ganesha idol!!! . i was wondering if others also have had similar experience. recently i have been drawn to do japam in his praise and have also decided on a mala that i plan to use. i have been researching the internet about mantra's as well as gone through the archives here: both being very insightful and convincing me of the merits of japam. following is the link to the ganesh japa article. it is quite detailed and lists various bija mantras that one can use to do japam. i found it particularly enlightening. http://www.himalayanacademy.com/books/lg/lg_ch-10.html look forward to your comments, insights into japam and experiences in general with lord ganesha. enjoy the article! may the elephant headed one's grace and light always shine on you, fmd
Guest guest
Namaste Mitra, I have found Lord Ganesh to be of particular help at several times during my life. I love his playfulness, his wisdom, and his strength. He also doesn't seem to take any offense unless one is deliberately trying to do evil. There is a multi DVD set out of a series that I believe was first broadcast on Indian TV called Sri Ganesh. It is absolutely wonderful to watch and see the stories from the purans acted out. The actually staging is not George Lucas Star Wars quality, but for me the content more than made up for that. I have used a variety of mantras for him. All have worked well. My suggestion is for you to find the one that most resonates within your heart and begin. I also find the 8 mukhi and Ganesh rudrakshas helpful.
