dear brothers and sisters

have any of you ever heard of the mantra called "adtiya hridayam"?

what is this mantra used for and what are its effects especially in

conjunction with rudraksha?

from googling this on the web i found out that it is mainly for

surya and then for the navagrahas. so would this work best with 1/12

mukhi or the navaratna mala??

any experiences with this would be highly appreciated.

may ganesha's light shine on all,

Aditya Hridayam is technically a stotra(hymn of praise or a eulogy if

you will) and not a mantra. I believe it is a part of the Bala Kanda

of Valmiki's Ramayana (one of two gret indian epics) and for this

reason is not considered a part of the original Ramayana but a later

addition by some scholars because Rama here is considered an

incarnation of NArAyanA, which is a Vaishnavite perspective.

Irrespective it is considered very meritorious to chant it especially

for reasons of health. It was an upadesha give by Sage Agastiyar to

Rama for worshipping the Sun (Aditya). The entire stotra is in the

Anushtup chandas(meter) except the last verse and there is a

beautiful rendition of it @ www.prapatti.com.
