Relieved to hear you also haven't seen a pitch black rudraksha :-)

Because I don't think they exist.. You have a great point there,

about the "black" referred to in Scriptures being or meaning: the

darkest of the dark browns. For dark browns to achieve further

darker shades, it is through prolonged use, oiling and passage of

time when beads are passed down the line.

 

The colors refer to rudraksha *Before* wearing or using.

The 'white' variety isn't all white. Its more beigey, very light

brown or something along these hues.
