Guest guest
Namaste Barbara, IMVHO, in theory what you're read is correct when you mentioned "different". In practice and depending of course on one's "spiritual path" and associated methods or relevant "technicals", ash is one and the same, only the parts of the body are different (but then the body is also "One", the Temple of God). Guest guest
Dear Sy, Am not club saavy and do not know what IMVHO means. Still think that vibhuti is not the same as smearing the articles of worship of the Shivalinga on one's body after worship. Vibhuti (sacred ash) should be smeared over one's body before worshipping the linga, and the articles with which one worships the linga (perfume, milk, honey, ghee, etc,) should be taken from the ling after worship, and, then, those too, should also be smeared on parts of one's body. Guest guest
Namaste Barbara, IMVHO means "in my very humble opinion". And, how silly of me.....!! Was being absentmindedly 'self-centred' and thinking only of my own path when I said "all is one and the same" because all is the same in my loopy awareness in this regard. Whether its mud, sticky stuff, stinky stuff, sweet bits, paste, powder, tilak, sacred ash, etc. - tis all the same to me as it all goes on the body. Of course you are right about the "before" and "after" worship. Generally, practices are as you described. Can only speak for the very humble path that I take in which things are to some extent different. (I did warn members here that I'm bent, twisted and warped as I accepted as the 'truth' what my maha-preceptor drilled, and later discovered he was right, for which I'm eternally grateful.) Guest guest
So please tell me about your bent, warped and twisted mind. harisg
As a south indian and following the practices of shiva worship since childhood, I would like to quote some more information about the method of bhasma application. Only after taking bath, we should apply bhasma. Bhasma should be applied as three horizontal lines to 5 or 8 or 16 or 32 body parts. In morning it should be applied as paste with water and in the evening it should be applied as powder. Thanks, Regards harisg
