Wear the 27 bead mala and do the japa on the 108 bead mala. The 27 bead mala, I believe, should enhance the effect of doing japa on the 108 beads. I am not completely sure of this though. Also, "A rosary of twenty five beadds renders moksa.Rudraksa" by Subas Rai, page 54. The book does not state whether to do japa on a rosary of twenty five beads or just to wear them. You could try it both ways. I wear malas of 27 and 25 beads while doing japa on rosaries of 108 beads. If I were to have only one mala, first I would try to get a combination mala of 108 beads or a mala or 108 5-mukhi beads. Use the 108 beads for doing japa, and wear the 27-bead mala while doing japa. You can still do a combination mala of the 27 beads. I think you still need 108 beads for japa. "Rudraksa" by Subas Rai, page 38 states that "Rosary should be prepared with 25 thorny beads of five mukhi Rudraksas." He also states that: "After touching it with felish of Lord Siva, it should be empowered with defence mantras (hymns). Afterward, it should be empowered with fundamental hymns followed by preceding rituals. Then while sprinkling water empowered with Saddyojata mantra, fundamental hymns should be chanted, then putting it on purified ground, Amba-Siva (Trust) be performed over it. Thus the rosary attains life, which fulfils all the desires. Now the hymns of the concerned deities should be chantedd through it." Does this mean that, if these rituals are not performed, the rudraksa does not attain life? What exactly are these rituals? Does anyone know? Also, does anyone know the gemstones in the navaratna? My sapphire is very slightly greenish blue. Is that all right for me to wear? I am a Taurus. Thanks for any help offered.
