Dear friends,

Please advise me if it is permissible to wear

rudraksha mala and chant mantras during menstruation

for women. Also waht is the law about wearing it for

the call of nature. I have been advised by some that

since all this is god's plan for human beings

(menstruation and call of nature) it does not matter

but another group feel strongly against it.

Please give me your opinions.

Also, is it O.K to chant mantras for more than 108

times? What is the significance of the number 108?

Warmest regards to all.

Hello Cyra,

Anything holy in hindu system is associated with purity; both mental and bodily.

It is better to follow the tradition rather experiment new ideas....like someone

points out the women are allowed to perform pooja during their MC. No one who

believes in hindu system would allow that. Though the MC last for 2-4 days Shiva

pooja is not allowed untill 5-7 days have passed. God does not ask you to

perform pooja he / she knows your problem so why be in doubt. After all if you

are a real devotee you keep thinking of the Lord all the time.

Be rational and let your mind decide without becoming sentimental. If one is

injured and is bleeding, or is suffering from cough how can he / she perform

pooja? It is all about hygiene and cleanliness.

Dear Cyra

Well I too have heard both opinions on this subject of wearing/not wearing the

rudraksha at night.I do not wear them at night and wear them after my bath first

thing in the morning. With regard to women there have been contridictary views of

when to wear and when not to wear.

Well in fact you would be surprised to know that there is a temple in south

india--

Adi- ParaSakthi temple where women are permitted ( no restrictions) to do pooja

during the mensturation time! which is not the usual practise in many other

temples where women do not do pooja neither go to temples during this time!

I wonder what our other friends and simonji's views are on this subject ?
