Guest guest
Meditation - The Health Benefits of the Meditation Meditation is one of the five principles of yoga. It an important tool to achieve mental clarity and health. An overview of the different beginner and advanced meditation techniques will aid in choosing the right meditation exercise for you. Introduction Research has shown that Meditation can contribute to an individual's psychological and physiological well-being. This is accomplished as Meditation brings the brainwave pattern into an alpha state, which is a level of consciousness that promotes the healing state. As discussed in the section "How Meditation Work?", there is scientific evidence that Meditation can reduce blood pressure and relieve pain and stress. In the coming sections we have divided the health benefits of meditation in three parts: (1) physiological benefits; (2) psychological benefits' and (3) spiritual benefits. Physiological Benefits Deep rest-as measured by decreased metabolic rate, lower heart rate, and reduced work load of the heart. Lowered levels of cortisol and lactate-two chemicals associated with stress. Reduction of free radicals- unstable oxygen molecules that can cause tissue damage. Decreased high blood pressure. Higher skin resistance. Low skin resistance is correlated with higher stress and anxiety levels. Drop in cholesterol levels. High cholesterol is associated with cardiovascular disease. Improved flow of air to the lungs resulting in easier breathing. This has been very helpful to asthma patients. Decreases the ageing process. Higher levels of DHEAS in the elderly. An additional sign of youthfulness. Psychological Benefits Increased brain wave coherence. Greater creativity. Decreased anxiety. Decreased depression Decreased irritability and moodiness Improved learning ability and memory. Increased self-actualization. Increased feelings of vitality and rejuvenation. Increased happiness. Increased emotional stability.
Guest guest
Hi Kari, There is a place called Ganeshpuri just about 40 km out of Mumbai (Bombay) where lot of people esp from the west come to learn about meditation. It is a 6 mth course and one does experience Kundalini...I came to know of this place from a french lady of 65. This township is entirely western in the sense of quality and facilities. They have their own communication station, etc. But I have never been there to tell you more. That lady and some others told me that they experienced kundalini in the first day! I was naturally surprised (disbelief)...then learnt that the master there made them experience kundalini with his own powers so that the new comers could know what to achieve as their goal.. Guest guest
Namaste all, IFor anyone interested, I thought I may add a little about Ganeshpuri. Ganeshpuri was pretty much built around the avadhoot Sri Bhagavan Nityananda, in much the same Shirdi developed by the grace and being of Sai Baba. Bhagavan Nityananda lived in Ganeshpuri for much of his life and it is here that his samadhi is. When Bhagavan took mahasamadhi Swamiji Baba Muktananda stepped into the foreground. It was by Bhagavan's grace, through Baba, that the knowledge and experience of shaktipata became available for many, particularly many in the west, as Jamini stated. My first ever rudraksha mala adorns my main puja picture of Bhagavan : ) Here are some links for anyone wishing to know more about Bhagavan NItyananda and Ganeshpuri. Om Shanti Neil History of Bhagavan Nityananda: http://www.swaminityanandbhagwan.com/historychap1_4.htm For words of Bhagavan try the Chidakasha Gita: http://www.spandayoga.org/chidakasha.html Web site for Shanti Mandir and of Mahamandaleshwar Swami Nityanand, continuing and upholding Baba's and Bhagavan's legacy: https://www.shantimandir.com/shtml/index.shtml Web link regarding Ganeshpuri: http://www.indiayogi.com/content/ashrams/ganeshpuri/main.asp Anyone further interested in Bhagavan Nityananda I can recommend the following book, Bhagavan Nityananda of Ganeshpuri: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0911307451/002-7616551- 8032841?v=glance , Jamini Padhi <jamini_padhi> wrote: > Hi Kari, > > There is a place called Ganeshpuri just about 40 km out of Mumbai (Bombay) where lot of people esp from the west come to learn about meditation.
