Dear Jyotisha,

 

I am pleased to announce that there is a new distance learning

diploma

program in Jyotish based on the parampara of Sri Achyutanada as

taught by

Pt. Sanjay Rath.

 

This program is called Jagannath Institute of Vedic Astrology, or

JIVA. It

is designed specifically for people who are sincere seekers but have

little

or no background in Vedic knowledge, Sanskrit, or astrology. The

Year One

Dilpoma Program will teach the basics of Jyotish according to Pt.

Rath's

parampara. This will be expanded into a three year Bachelor of

Jyotish

program.

 

Please note the purpose of JIVA is to make these precious teachings

available to a wider audience, and is not in competition with any

SJC

program. JIVA is a California non profit corporation and, in

addition to

providing a formal education in Jyotish, intends to generate

funds for projects such as translations, writing grants, and even a

retreat

center.

 

Live classses begin in Santa Cruz, California in April 2006, and the

distance learning program starts in May 2006.
