Guest guest
Namaste Beloved Family, i read on this group once that Maa said "Take baby steps". For Chandi sadhana as well as any other sadhana, my understanding is this - we can begin where we are and keep adding a little bit -- every week or every month -- as our circumstances allow and as much as we are capable. When Swamiji was talking about asana siddhi (how to be able to sit for long time to do chanting and other sadhana), He said that His Guru had given the following advice -- Increase your asana by 5 minutes every month. It sounds simple, but my learning is that if we just begin with one thing from the Chandi -- e.g. Sapta shloki Durga and keep reciting it for a week and then add one more section (e.g. Devi Kavach) -- in a time that is shorter than we imagine, we will be chanting to Mother Chandi, Her whole story! :-) One time, wholly due to the inspiration from this group, i tried to read one chapter of Chandi -- same chapter every day for a week or 10 days and then the next chapter and so on -- and it really helped me to become familiar and comfortable with the whole text. Then by Grace of God, when the time came that i could chant the whole text together, it felt like making a garland with flowers that i had met before!!! And what a beautiful garland is the Chandi path! The main thing -- seems to be making a sankalpa and being consistent -- and keeping at it. Swamiji says our sadhana should grow organically. Kenneth, my best wishes for a very beautiful journey for you as you study the Chandi. Neelima and Thukaram, thanks so much for sharing and inspiration! i hope other family will share how they started to recite the Chandi and how it grew in their lives. Thank you very much! Jai MAA! Jai Swamiji! ramya
Guest guest
thank You, Ramya, for a wonderful post. I have been in love with the chandi since I first saw devotees chanting it...one in particular has an amazing asan siddhi which is wonderful to behold. Anyways, due to my nature, I suppose, I have wanted to chant it cover to cover from day one and have struggled with it because I did not take baby steps. Maa even told me once what to do, but I was "cabeca dura" (in portuguese, obstinate) and wanted to do it all. Needless to say, it's been a stop and go process with more stops than gos. Now I am taking baby steps and trying to resist the temptation to rush through the process. JAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAI MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! Guest guest
I can't say I started with baby steps when it came to the Chandi. I just started. I had been doing other pujas and homas but never a long practice like this. I just started and stuck with it. It was certainly a stretch but I finished it. When you start just keep going. Soon you will be at the back of the book. , "n_ramya108" <n_ramya108 wrote: > > Namaste Beloved Family, > > i read on this group once that Maa said "Take baby steps".
