So, if this is right than why goat is being slaughtered during Durga puja? What is the reason behind it? Hare Krishna.........

Jahnava Nitai Das
In Kali yuga, even the ancient Vedic panditas and kings of India became degraded and took up killing animals in the name of sacrifice. As a result Lord Krishna incarnated as Buddha to put an end to this corrupted sacrifices.

Animal sacrifice is an ancient practise that is still alive among some sections of India. The same reason that was used in the vedic age is still valid today. Apparently, the animal goes to heaven and so everyone is happy. Cheers
Jahnava Nitai Das
Animal sacrifice is primarily found in tantric worship, particularly the vamamarga where they offer five forbidden things (mamsa, matsya, mada, mudra and maituna). Tulasidas cites 13 people, who while living are no better than dead bodies, and one among them them is the person who follows vamamarga.
