Guest guest
lakshmi sitting next to ganapathi is a depction to be worshiped. it represents a path of prosperity through removal of obstacles. it shows that in order to win the love of the goddess of prosperity, one must pray for the removal of obstacles. Jahnava Nitai Das
Generally Ganesh sitting next to Lakshmi is due to confused people who want a short cut package with all the best gods, so they buy a set of the three most popular Gods sitting next to each other. No acharya teaches to worship in that manner.

Guest guest
Are unorthodox Murtis like this one an offence? In "Sri Mahaganesa Panca Ratnam" Adi Shankaracharya wrote that Ganesha is "adored by the valiant like Arjuna", which seems to equate him with Krishna or Vishnu. Is this blasphemy? Guest guest
Hare Krishna! Now days for sake of short cuts or for propoganda/advertisment, unqualified people write/paint/depict God/demigods in so many possible ways suiting their imagination. Like for example, i dont know, if it is offensive to the Gods, but in the US Hindu Temples, we see all Gods inside the same compound. For example, if Lord Narayana is the Prime deity, the temple does not follow rules pertaining to construction of a Lord Narayana temple. They have all demigods, everybody in the same place. I understand it is done to satisfy the different funding groups, but still we have to honour the main deity. Similarly, in order to be more SECULAR, people who have the capacity to do something has to do it as per the originial scriptures and not be tempted to satisfy the masses. For example, if Srila Prabhupada was tempted to satisfy the masses, then we would have had another SWAMI. But no, he presented scriptures AS IT IS. This is how we should do. Depict scriptures, visually, philosphically or in lay conversations AS IT IS with NO SPECULATION. Most often, its not, especially in this age. Haribol! anand
