God or guru will grant the heart's desire during moments of intense bhakti or as long as the merit (good karma) is there. Teachings are sometimes only the ideal and not the be-all end-all written in stone (like eating until your stomach is only half full, etc.). I'm not sure Amma teaches that Desire is the root of all suffering, is this a quote from her, or a generic spiritual teaching? I thought it was identification with the ego or mind, etc. that was the root of suffering.
