Guest guest
Sat Nam Akkama! Could you please elaborate on negative self talk? What does it all cover? Negative self talk is all those little negative thoughts going around in our heads...I shouldn't have done_____(fill in the blank) I'll never be able to ______, I'm not good at______, etc. Sometimes it is safer to push ourselves down/be humble rather than say something great about us? Where is the fine line? Humility has nothing to do with pushing ourselves down. If there is something great you want to say about yourself, say it! as if you were expressing that greatness about someone you truly love. When you truly love yourself, you see all the beauty of your soul( and everyone elses; there is no difference) and you know that you are the breath of God! Humility is assosiated with tapa (fortitude) and having faith in the processes of life. Being truly aware of our speck of life in the Universe but knowing in humbleness that we are all one, moving, breathing, pulsating in rhythm. Looking for a fine line is too small for Humility. Also, does teasing or (saying true facts of what you really felt about others in a funny way) be considered as negative? I believe so. You used "true facts" and "felt" in the same sentence What our ego feels changes sometime minute by minute, so it's not really a good barometer for truth! Teasing is the ego's way of hiding some deeper emotions, anger, fear, unacceptance?? When the ego is quieted then humility can come forward. Moving toward true gratitude, acceptance, and Truth (SAT NAM) helps peel away the layers and uncover Humility. If you are working on being humble, pushing thoughts, words down, or otherwise exhibiting false pride, or false modesty you may be moving away from true humility. Yogi Bhajan said to get up every morning and bow to yourself in front of a mirror until you know who you are! It's a great way to uncover humility as part of yourself. All great religions include bowing, it is really a powerful truism! PRIDE IS A LIE GRATITUDE IS TRUTH ONLY THE TRUTH SURVIVES Sat Nam!
