visrnkhalA : Unfettered.

 

SrnkhalA, fetters, the bondage of action, etc. as they are the cause

of bondage. So great men say, "O Lord, destroy my good actions as well

as my bad actions; when the fetters are on the feet it makes no

difference whether they are of gold or Iron." The meaning is that

ordinance and probihitions only apply to the ignorant.

 

Or visrnkhalA, naked. because at Alambura and other sacred places Devi

is seen in that form.

She is without fetters of any kind; i.e., She is that Pure State

which is beyond all action.

 

"kANcanI bhavatu lohamayI vA srnkhalA yadi pador na visesaH: Every

good action is as much a fetter as a bad action -- just as a chain

still binds, whether it be made of gold or iron."
