Guest guest
Dear All, Shree Maa often asks us to set a goal. Swamiji says that only when we have a goal, we can determine if actions lead us to or away from the goal. What in your opinion is a goal worth having ? I look forward to your intuitive responses. I believe Goals are personal; there ain't no one-size fits-all type of goals. So instead of answering the questions directly, I will try to answer it by going around and hopefully covering it well. Some common guidelines of for important life-term Goals 1. They need to come from within. If my spirit should be dancing with joy and delight and love when I see or hear anything, then a goal around that will have the best chance of actualization. 2. They need to be larger-than-life, i.e. they need to serve a purpose larger than my immediate context like family, friends etc. 3. Goals should answer a 'what', not a 'how'. for e.g. a goal like 'I want to meditate 6 hrs a day' might not work, but a goal like 'I want to know God intimately' is probably going to release energy more effectively perhaps by allowing us to meditate 6 hrs a day. 4. Goals should be very clear, and focused. 5. Goals are different than desires. Desires are wish-lists; goals are specific intentions that are burnt into the will-field. It is a diferent thing that a goal releases the necessary (healthy) desire to keep you motivated to get it. In this case, desire becomes one of the 'hows' around a goal. Thanks for the question! writing it out clarified some points for me too. Jai Ma! ------------------------
