She is the essence and power in the rhythm of speech; chandas meaning

the rhythm of speech. Chandas can also signify the Vedas -- hence,

She is the essence and power of the Vedas. Their essence is Sri

Gayatri in its two forms, and Sri Vidya.

 

Alternatively, chandas can be read to mean Desire or Will. As Iccha-

Sakti, She is the essence of that Will.
